An uncle of mine used to do consulting work with/for CxO's worldwide. He was having lunch with a client in Edinburgh (about 4 or 5 years back) and Salmond came over to see the guy - he was the sort of person politicians go out of their way to engage with - and had a short conversation. He'd interrupted the meal and yet, did not for one second even acknowledge my uncle, out of basic courtesy.

Now my uncle has zero ego, but his judgment of people (that's his job) is razor sharp. So the fact he took almost instant dislike to Salmond and made one or two disparaging observations about his character and psychology I took at face value. Which also now appear to be correct.
