After watching the video shot inside the reception area, he drives over a lot of kit, I can see at least one Paslode nail gun box, they're £450 a snip, plus levels and other kit, I'd be livid if I was in there and some muppet did that to my kit.
What I can't understand is why no one jumped onto the cab on his left side as that's the door, the bucket can't swing around to you if you're stood on the cab, then use a hammer and smash your way through to him.
Failing that, a long length of timber through a window, they let him cause havoc for far too long before they pulled leads out of the engine.

I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to risk personal injury to stop someone like that. What I can't understand is why no one jumped onto the cab on his left side as that's the door, the bucket can't swing around to you if you're stood on the cab, then use a hammer and smash your way through to him.

Why should they?
If you watch the video, one guy goes and tries pulling the door handle on the cab, but can’t get in, and nearly gets hit by the digger as he swings round.
People are then heard shouting at the guy to just leave the digger driver alone instead of risking injury, which is pretty sensible.
Then slightly later, and older chap who looks like a foreman, goes to try to talk to him and nearly gets hit by the ceiling falling in, and is dragged out by another colleague.
Things like this are for the emergency services to deal with, or worst case, he will only get so far with his demolition, then give up. Which is what he did.

I used to know someone who was crushed by a mini digger, they might look dinky but itnaint hollywoodWhat I can't understand is why no one jumped onto the cab on his left side as that's the door, the bucket can't swing around to you if you're stood on the cab, then use a hammer and smash your way through to him.

Even the smallest ones are 1.5 tonnes dry. The one in our yard looks dinky, but its still a 3 tonne machine

I know what they're capable off as I've used one many times but if you got cab door side the arm or bucket couldn't get you, yes you could say why risk your life but the idiot just carried on for minutes. People were inside that reception and looking at it couldn't get out or simply didn't want to. What if he'd tried driving up that corridor and ripped more walls and ceilings out.
A good job the tool didn't pick the fork lift instead, faster, heavier machine. That would've done far more damage.

The people inside were clearly not too bothered about standing there watching from a relatively safe distance.People were inside that reception and looking at it couldn't get out or simply didn't want to. What if he'd tried driving up that corridor and ripped more walls and ceilings out.

If you watch the video that was taken from inside, they just stand and watch, then move back occationally.
He did try to pull a supporting pillar out at one point, and all he managed to do was break the plaster off it.
You can outrun a mini digger with a brisk walk. They were never in any serious danger. They could have run off down the corridor in the opposite direction if they felt worried.
They would have put themselves in far greater danger trying to tackle the idiot.
Like I said, far safer just letting him get on with it and stay out the way.

Will there be some talk/focus on how these people are paid? It seems like a bit of a possibly in that industry.

Direct action, that’s what I like.
BTW what happened,in that case a few months ago, similar, where someone wrecked a load of brand new bungalows?
The devil is in the detail and that will all come out in due course. I would be suprised if there isn't 2 sides of the story. The person who didn't pay the contractor could be a total See You Next Tuesday who totally took the P, or the contractor could have done some really shoddy work to the wrong spec that needed a load of money spending on it to remedy it. Or maybe somewhere between to the 2BTW what happened,in that case a few months ago, similar, where someone wrecked a load of brand new bungalows?
According to this story
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-new...
The main contractor is called Triton, and it is their groundworks subcontractor MF Constructions, who owed the guy the £600.

Unpaid staff is usually the first warning sign of an impending insolvency isn’t it, if forms carried on line that as the usual way of doing things they’d struggle to find staff
I do have a degree of sympathy. If he was under some financial pressure on a low wage self employed and he’s done a load of work and not been paid I could see how that could push someone over the edge.
My mates mum had me and my mate clean her bathroom once for £5 when we were teenagers. We were planning to split the cash and buy 20 b&h each. When we were done she said she wasn’t paying as my mate had apparently nicked £5 from her purse. I suggested we put the bathroom back how it was before which is actually allowed in U.K. law as long as it doesn’t become criminal damage. She booted me out and my dad had to come pick me up from a pay phone nearby.
Same thing really.
