Climate protesters block roads
Discussion
The activities of these lunatics are completely counterproductive. They are a bunch of irresponsible f
king idiots. Many of the problems they're trying to highlight are real and increasingly urgent. But, as evidenced by many of the comments on this thread, their childish antics give people the excuse to dismiss absolutely every thing they say. They're actively undermining their own cause.
Usually people say "don't shoot the messenger". On this occasion we should. Shoot the messenger, but take the message seriously. The Earth isn't flat just because a militant pillock tells you it's an oblate spheroid while gluing himself to your fridge.
I know a couple of people who went along to some of the organising events for this movement in recent weeks, local to me, local to a mate in Somerset. I'm sure there were dozens more round the country. Not surprisingly most of the people who turned up were middle class, middle-aged, educated, community-minded types; the bed rock who make our communities function. And they were alarmed and dismayed to hear the organisers state from the outset that their objective was to get themselves arrested.

Seems like there’s a protest every other day in London, remainers, brexiters, the far right, bikers, environmentalists soon it’s may for the May Day anarchy anti globalisation lot, then it will be the triggered gammons when brexit doesn’t happen.
How does anyone in London get anything done, why are these protests so London centric, shouldn’t Manchester or Liverpool or Exeter get some action? Do they just all bus into London and follow the same route each time or are people just randomly turning up and protesting?
Wouldn’t it have some impact if they actually went somewhere different or did something else apart from yet another boring march in London? Nobody cares.
None of these marches have achieved anything. Bunch of tossers.

Yes, that's their intent - they think that the whole getting arrested bit will bring change. There's a talk here that promotes this (https://youtu.be/b2VkC4SnwY0?t=2569)
Again, they are all hypocrites

Something went on in Edinburgh according to BBC lunchtime news. And on BBC1 this week we have a new alarmist piece of claptrap from Attenborough, entitled, 'The Facts' which'll add more oxygen to their cause no doubt. Special guest? Ah yes the schoolgirl striking for cwimate ...
The End is nigh... ![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
And still the Beeb on the main midday news allows the dick (who super-glued his hands to something yesterday) his pathetic voice, to say 'Sorry Police' and some drivel after that not worth repeating.
I feel sorry for all the old and easily led people that have been brainwashed into getting arrested while the organisers stay well clear. It's just organised civil disobedience.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a distraction to cover preparations for some massive criminal heist going on over the long weekend, like in the movies.

The nonsense has spread to Edinburgh. By blocking a major city centre road and bus route they have succeeded in creating congestion and pollution...
Now I believe in man made climate change, ride an ebike and have a hybrid car to do my bit but don’t support this sort of thing. By all means wave a placard in parliament square but don’t cause misery for others just trying to get home from work (paying taxes to pay for many of these protesters state benefits/pensions).

But we live in a world where those who shout loudest are right.
Despite much stick from the PH collective, the protesters have at least succeeded in getting people to speak about climate change again.
We've seen recently with the revoke A50 petition how quickly a small campaign can snowball into the public awareness and hence the view of our politicians. This can only be a good thing as we really aren't doing enough to cut CO2.
The irony is the ULEZ is a fantastic start and shows London to be well ahead of rUK.
