I wonder how the current Mrs Johnson will handle it when she is no longer (soon hopefully) in such an apparently influential position?
She will, of course be devasted! Imagine the heartache leaving all that hugely expensive wallpaper and paint behind.

As some one said to me the other day, when he does leave then we should stand out side number 10 and sing Carrie Doesnt live here anymore!

ETA - didn’t look back first - beaten to it! Apologies

Party-gate was discussed a lot at work this week, which is unusual as politics rarely comes up in conversation. A couple of lifelong Tory voters said they will be voting Labour at the next election as things stand. I've never voted Labour in my life yet I found myself in total agreement. Obviously this is a tiny sample size, but I think there's a lot of us who are just well and truly sick to death of these absolute s.
Why Labour...?!
They're the only party with even a remote chance of unseating the Tories in my constituency. My local (Tory) MP actually appears to be defending Boris currently and has lost my vote in the next general election as a result.
You never know...look what happened in the North Shropshire by election.

So now it seems they're all liars and hypocrites. Presumably Starmer will wriggle a squirm saying his 'beer' with a few people was a work event - oops where have we heard that before. rofl

Hopefully not until volume 9.

Stories of "Operation Save Big Dog" where apparently he's drawing up a list of officials who will resign in a bid to save him.

He's lied to the country he's lied to Parliament and No 10 have had to apologise to the Queen for partying the night before she sat alone whilst her husband was being buried.

How anyone can look at what's gone on and still stick up for him is absolutely beyond me.

Disgusting.
Completely agree

How can anyone think this is ok as an example to lead our country?

It's not as though he's even that good at anything, apart from connecting with the common halfwit thru the Churchill tribute thing he does
It is to me an absolute disgrace that we have a PM who can lie, be found out and still stay in his position.

Bottom line is that Johnson has always been amoral and a liar.

He has never been fit to be prime minster - and that isnt a political party thing - it is the character of the man.

The people who elected him leader of the Conservative party knew this and they are complicit with him being prime minister.

My gut feeling is that the Conservatives needs to be sent a message.

Vote Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Monster Raving Loony or whatever Party Farage has created by the time of the next election.

Vote for who ever fits your political views closest and that you feel comfortable with.

But mostly just send the Conservatives a message they will never forget.

Yup, that’s my view. Pretty much said exactly that in my email to my MP (Tory) today.

Any backbenchers that don’t write to the 1922 are idiots. There are 3 years to the next election (ie: the next opportunity to lose their jobs), so the sooner they get rid of BJ and try to save something out of the May elections and prepare for the next general election the better. The opportunity to keep BJ as a whipping boy for the corruption and incompetence around covid has passed… he is now so toxic he needs to be dispatched without delay. The quicker it is done the better for the Tory party and the country, the only losers are, rather perversely the Labour Party. Every Tory MP must know this, if they don’t act it will be amazing, and will consign them to electoral oblivion, because under Mr Johnson things are not going to get any better.

Anyone know how many have written to the 1922 committee yet? There were noises about that around May for ages but it seems much more subdued for Boris even though his crimes are arguably far worse.

And where does this lying leave the police? They must have been aware but did nothing. There really should be some heads rolling there too - I'd expect them to pipe up if they could see rules being broken they were fining the public about at the same time.

There really need to be clear consequences for this kind of lying dishonest behaviour - sadly it is no longer possible to rely on individual honor or integrity.

So the electorate should vote on personalities not policy platform? Errrrr OK.

I'll get my kids to stand, they are pure as the driven snow, that makes my 7 and 11 year old chancellor and PM at the next GE. And my 7 year old has better business acumen than Rishi. They can stand for my lunatic party.

It's not just about Boris being a prat, the (oppo) policies need work. Labour could clean up here. Headline numbers might look big, but are in the ballpark. Convince the electorate they can actually run a fiscal programme without spunking money down a hole and lose the politics of envy, and they might sit on a whopping majority. Yeah, yeah, yeah I made it pound notes; buy call em unicorns and pixie dust - as long as it's stimulus / considered social investment. When Labour appear that way, watch the Tories sort their st out. Their constant is lust for government.

The antidote to Tory sleaze isn't a new leader or vote for a random, but the other parties to treat the electorate like adults and debunk the empty promises. It's exactly the same play Boris used, but against him. The enemy now is bullst.

I spoke to Christian Wakeford (Bury South) last night. He's put his letter in. The feeling among the new MPs is one of anger. I wouldn't be surprised if this weekend isn't a tipping point.

I wonder how many of the new northern Tory MPs will serve a second term?
