Why don't they just rip the plaster off and give him his P45? It's been a long time coming as he's breached the policy of talking about politics multiple times.

The government must look longingly at Russia and China. They act like a tinpot version of those regimes.
His Twitter is his business and the BBC shouldn’t have any say over it. The imbeciles in government most definitely shouldn’t have any say over it.
If you aren’t interested in his political opinions don’t follow him. It’s not difficult.

I would argue the same if Shearer tweeted his support for Sunak and waxed lyrically about Brexit.

It all seems quite self made. I don't follow twitter and wouldn't be aware of this ex-footballer's views had outlets, primarily the BBC, been so keen to amplify them.
By essentially banning him from hosting MOTD they've made Lineker's views seem much more important than they really are! Hoisted, petard etc.
