^^^ given that they had all the names but chose instead to create days of headline speculation, I'm with you. News management. Misdirection. Maybe Boris' messages. Maybe something else.

So you’re saying Huw Edwards was guilty of being a pervert? Where’s the evidence for that?
Well, maybe our moral compasses differ, but a man almost old enough to be a pensioner asking a 17 year old for lewd photos ranks as pretty pervy in my book.
If he’s asked a 17 year old for those photos I think he’d be guilty of an offence. I’d he’d received any he definitely would have been. Yet Police have dropped it.

So all that leaves is the age gap, that clearly you don’t like. Have you seen the marital history of The Sun’s owner? wink

Age-gapped relationships aren’t perverted. They may not be to your taste, but they’re much more widespread than you might imagine. Adults are allowed to like other adults without your approval.

Sometimes the younger participants are in it for money - the term “gold digger” used to be used. Maybe the non-complainant was one such? Certainly obtained plenty of money by all accounts.

Why aren’t people lambasting the younger person? £35k just for some photos?!

This whole thing is just very sad TBH. But the moralising and hand-wringing is pretty odd IMHO.

Well I think he’s a great presenter. Come back.

Some of us remember Frank Bough. He was hung drawn and quartered by the press

Mind you he did quite like that.

So it didn't happen? So why all the smoke if there was no fire?
st like this is why throwing allegations and names around is such a big problem.
As I said before, if it didn't happen, then he should sue the Sun to oblivion.
You've already asserted on this thread that Edwards attempted to procure indecent photographs from a 17 year old, and the police have stated that there is no evidence that this happened, which leads us to the conclusion that your assertion is libellous, and hence you acknowledged that you also should also be sued to oblivion? Best get your chequebook out, and probably order a new one as you'll be writing lots of them, big ones.

Simply because he's been named doesn't mean he can't continue to be libelled, or that PH may well nuke the thread from orbit.

If they had all the information and believed their own story then why didn't they publish names? The truth is they either didn't trust their own story OR they wanted to just try and put the BBC on the spot for commercial/political reasons...

Like Caroline Flack then.
Well Caroline Flack committed suicide in entirely different circumstances. She probably knew she was either going to have to plead guilty or be convicted of a domestic assault after a trial, both of which should have and would have ended her media career.

I haven't quoted anything that isn't on the BBC website, so how am I being libellous when they're reporting it?

Don't pursue a morally dubious course of action when you are a public figure. Simples

One of my abiding memories of the late Queen passing was when Huw Edwards announced it on the Beeb news. He looked absolutely broken then, breaking the story.

Have no idea why I've posted this suffice to say I feel sorry for the bloke, he's clearly in a bad place.

Worth noting the beeb are over egging their own self-reporting to demonstrate how trustworthy/capable/independent they are, as that whole thing has been riled up by nutters. See people on here who wont even visit 'MSM' or BBC sites etc.

Who wants the BBC dead? Murdoch.

Who owns The Sun?

The phrase "no smoke without fire", apart from being a logical fallacy, didn't help your cause. Probably a throw away line, but an ill advised one.
