But are you really less productive?

In the office you get people coming over for a chat, let’s go for a coffee, your boss suggests lunch which then over runs as they go off spinning tales of old.

I find WFH has just as many distractions they’re just different.
Yes I am
The objective evidence says you are in a minority.

I very much doubt homeworking is the route cause of HMRC issues. Employing the wrong people and badly managing them is more likely to be major issues.
Undoubtably that is the case.

Close hundreds of offices in small towns and cities across the county, towns and cities where you could recruit, and more importantly retain staff after you had trained them.

Instead have 13 mega-offices in the largest cities where you are competing with everyone else for the best employees, and being in those cities those employees will know they can improve their prospects by job-hopping between employers, even civil service employers.

Then let pay levels stagnate to levels where you are competing with the supermarkets for staff.

And then cut budgets so you are running 10% below the staffing numbers you need so putting everyone under pressure.

Yep, you are going to get the wrong people applying for jobs, will have no choice but to take them, and even then they will leave when you have trained them. Put on top of that some poorly trained, poorly paid and poorly motivated managers who are getting crap poured from above, and 'tada' you end up with the current situation.

Show me some peer reviewed evidence.

Regardless Karen on some min hmrc wage will be more distracted by her 6 kids, getting Gary's tea doing the ironing, popping down the tanning salon, insert stereotype here than she would if in office.

Human nature certain industries sure. Most not.

Why don’t you show us some evidence to prove your point?

The fact that you demand peer reviewed makes me think you have no interest in accepting any evidence, so I’m going to ask you to back up your claim first to the same standard. A ridiculous standard given the subject matter, and makes me think you have no idea of the process of peer review. And for clarity, we are talking hybrid working here, as per HMRC, not fully remote.

Your statement about Karen and Gary shows your distain for people anyway. Regardless, people doing transactional work, like the people you imagine, are much easier to manage remotely. Easy metrics and KPIs, and absolutely no value in them “being creative” in the office. Just because you are unable to manage yourself and others doesn’t mean everyone else is the same. I’m guessing you’re not the “high performer” you claim to be.

Yes - and the observation about the use of the names "Karen" and "Gary" was exactly right. Things like that just show that the poster has some image in their head of how the world works and what certain "types" of people are like and everything has to fit in with that image.

my bad. i doth tilt at windmills.

electro referenced all the objective evidence. when i had said mine was purely subjective. i simply asked for some evidence as he raised objectivity, thus in my head the burden of proof is on him, making your point moot as i had made my subjective case clear.

but anyway i am done now must unfolow the topic as im getting no work done...

So your defence is you were making stuff up and you’re upset when people call you out on it? That’s very odd behaviour.
