So he gets Airforce one over here which lands whereever (Stanstead area) then gets into one of 3 identical helicopters (How have these come over here? you can't fly a helicopter over the Atlantic). Then "The Beast" read £200,000 limo takes him around London with 20 other support vehicles. How have they got the beast over here?.
Helicopters, cars etc etc all brought in by USAF heavy lift over the past week or so.
Does it not bother the American people how their Government are spending their money?
And we're up in arms over a couple of porn movies laugh
Pathetic.
think of the carbon footprint! wink
Americans take enormous pride in AF1 and the presidential regalia. Closest thing they have to our pomp and circumstance.

wonder what the road route is going to be ?
I live just over one of the M25 bridges - quite fancy getting a snap of the beast wink

I can't imagine them doing M11 - A406 - A13 ?

M11 - M25 - M1/A1 - they could stop off at Brent Cross as well

So perhaps that was what I saw heading up the M11 towards Mildenhal

Not sure if it's related but I've just seen a fighter (not sure what it was, not a Typhoon though) flying over west london (west as in just north of Heathrow). First time I've seen one over these parts, followed in 10 minute intervals by a couple of private jets.

Just out of interest, are there any other airfields in this area other than Heathrow - around the Hillingdon/Ruislip/Ickenham area? I always see air trafffic round here, and its always heading north, i.e. away from Heathrow.

They seem too low to be in any sort of holding pattern, so I guess they're either taking off or landing, but I'm pretty sure general Heathrow traffic doesen't fly immediately north of Heathrow?

Any info would be great as it've always pondered about it but never thought to ask anyone smile

When GWB flew in last time, we were working near to the royal suite at Heathrow, apparently the armed plod were using us and our hi viz jackets as aming marks to get thier gun sights on 'target'

US President Barack Obama touches down in the UK tonight - ready to cruise the capital's streets in a £250,000 rocket-grenade launching limo dubbed The Beast. The £250,000 Beast is equipped with rocket-propelled grenades, a night-vision camera and pump-action shotguns to destroy would-be attackers. The Beast's titanium superstructure is capable of shielding the president from a chemical weapons attack. Its sealed interior forms an impregnable "panic room" if the vehicle is attacked. The car contains a tear-gas cannon, oxygen tanks and bottles of the president's AB blood. It can drive at speeds of more than 60mph with punctured tyres. The five-inch rocket proof glass is so thick that Mr Obama needs fluorescent light to read in the darkness.

Blimey I remember some years back sitting in the car at outside the perimeter fence at the end of Stansted runway, eating fish and chips watching the aircraft landing and taking off. Next thing I know 5 heavily armed (and I mean heavily armed!) military guys in full uniform surround the car. I was a little alarmed! They proceed to question me, etc, etc.. then told me to get on my way..

Anyway I was recounting my story in the local pub and it so happened that a Stansted chap was present. He told me that it was because the EL Al plane was landing there. Apparently in those days of middle east conflict when an El Al flight was due in England its final destination could be Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted, nobody knew until an hour before it arrived. It seemed a plausible story at the time, but I never stopped to eat my chips there again!
Same thing happend to me sitting in my car on the top deck of the car park at terminal three (heathrow) doing my email on the wireless. Two chaps in black very heavilly armed.

Saw them walk across the car park toward me, then take a wide arc behind my car, moved the mirrors to watch then as thought I was about to get done-over for the laptop. Third one (god knows where he came from) appreared by window and politely asked me if I could move as an El-Al flight was due - phew !

I wonder what other huge security ops are going on? We're concentrating on Obama but there are leaders from 18 other countries / organisations arriving and all we're hearing about is the massive security op surrounding the US President.

I'd love to see what the other countries leaders are arriving in.

Can't see the leaders of India / China / Brazil bringing half their army with them!

Most have nicer state aircraft than us.

Sounds about right, if you look at the (real) stansted timetable, that's right in the middle of a 35 minute gap... usually there's departures every 5/10 minutes. Plus that coincides with the take-off time.

All those millions spent on top of the range equipment and they still have to rely on a few sheets of stacked MDF hehe

I have been driven in an decommissioned presidential limo and the windscreen is so thick that the driver can only see a few yards in front of the car. Thats the main reason why they have motorcycle outriders leading the limo, its so the driver can just follow the bikes rather than actually watch the road. The doors are also so heavy that its a struggle to open them from the inside while in a seated position!. I am larger than average and needed someone on the outside to actually pull the door open.
