Well this 'ere is interesting.

I have an email in my inbox at work dated 10/11/2009 with the original picture of "Brandon" holding up that rat, and "Brandon" definitely isn’t form west Yorkshire.....
care to expand on this,

I cant find an image anywhere else of that sort
Yep, I received this image back in November......

Make of that what you will, but I call it crap reporting by the Sun, they haven't even got the area right.....

Maybe if they didn't live in squalor they would attract rodents. Cut that grass for starters. Complete scum.

captainslow,

They give you a free house, free money, don't charge any tax, but they don't give you a free flymo. Flymo's cost 80 quid, and thats 320 spins on the fruitie. And you'd have to get up and miss trisha. Anyways, if you do get rats, just go to the papers and demand they sort the rat prblem out. It's their house, after all...

yes Frickin dump.

Was driving through North Sheffield the other day, (page hall, fir vale, southy green, parsons cross), and that's a fkin ste hole as well. How can these folk walk up there squalid homes and be content at the awfull
state of them? It doesn't matter how little you earn, it doesn't cost owt to weed your garden, mow your lawn, cut your hedges and clean your windows.

Lazy leeching wasters.
If there was no food left out the rats would have no reason to come around.

There are no such things as Slum buildings or Slum areas, Only Slum people

I smell a rat!

If you shot a 2 1/2 foot long rat, you would surely keep the body and not just chuck it back into the jungle or whatever that housing estate is located in?

The picture does look quite impressive though!

No one ever sees a small rat, do they?

From anecdotal evidence, it seems like the UK authorities, museums, naturalists, zoologists etc are all lying to us, saying that rats are 6-8 inches body length, as the only ones the general public see tend to be the size of a cat.

Hang on a minute.

The rat was shot and everyone's going on about the rat problem...

What was the rat shot with? Why is no one asking that?

What a load of tosh. We have:

  • possible picture been doing the rounds already
  • obvious perspective difference in the photo
  • body of rat mysteriously disappears
  • rat is holding a miniature broom
I reckon some scummers decided to try to get a couple of hundred quid out of the sun for a made up story.

About half way down the article

Brandon toted an air rifle as he went "ratting" with pals on the edge of the estate - which they had heard was rife with rodents.

Broom for reference.

It's flipping gigantic!
How is the broom 'reference'?

It's a good 6 feet behind the rat, not to mention the foreshortening effect of the camera.

Can you walk around public land with an air rifle, shoting rats?

I did wonder this. Maybe walking around Bradford with an air rifle is normal!
