I think it's 8 and 9, one for the Council (back left), one for the Commission (back right).
After Sofa-gate, they couldn't just invite one of them. Notice they have to be kept apart though.

Personally I think it underlines a serious issue that they participate in addition to member states.

the UK owns the golf club but because the Eu own the one next door we agreed to use special balls that match those used on their course so all the holes in the Greens were the same size now the Eu are insisting that we use approved clubs and trolleys, and all the food and drink served there is to eu standards even if they change the rules in the future and insist that we check the specification of every thing that is used at our club. what they really want and are suggesting as the only solution is that we should apply their rules to every golf club in the UK.
Absolutely...
On their course, they make the rules. If they say that to play on their course you can only play with certain clubs/ balls etc that is absolutely right.
On your course you ake the rules. If they want to play you can insist they wear pink jumpers, thats your perogative.

Lets see NI as three holes shared by both courses.
You were an idiot and signed a piece of paper saying they could make the rules on the 3 shared holes.
Now they are insisting that you stick to those rules.
Shouldnt have signed up...but you did

Always some nonsense being spouted to justify Brexit.

Italian banks going bust.
German car companies.
French fishermen.

Now we're onto the Irish Govt.

Like Qanon, the great saviour/justification is always just around the corner.

That's what I thought.

I saw "three holes" and it took me a while - I really need to change my internet habits.

Anyone would think the EU represents an important trading bloc and that the 7 leaders think it's important to work with them
But then wtf do the leaders of the G7 countries know?

Well when you have the leaders of the three largest EU countries already there one might wonder why they are even invited.

Over inflated bureaucrats are not leaders.

The two leaders of the EU are already in attendance at the front.

Maybe they need them as body guards?

Much as they try the EU is not a Sovereign State or a Country.

China, India, Russia, etc are important to work with too.

To some extent it's the branding that bothers me - that, as you can see, even people with a passing interest in politics don't realise they're involved. This comes every time the G7(/8+x) convene, because everyone assumes it's what it says on the tin.

It's odd. As said, there's other key global leaders who have 'equal' claim to be part of G7 meetings.

As an aside, I really do wonder what the actual leaders think of the EU 'presidents'. I have little doubt on what Merkel thinks of VdL... Although I also know she's far too much of a pro to ever let on.

In very simple terms the G7 is loose club for liberal democracies, and I'd imagine they seek to develop common ground when it comes to dealing with China for example.

By inviting the EU they ensure practically the whole of western Europe has a seat at the table.

I know it's not a popular point of view but they are globally influential - whatever your opinion of Brexit that's just a fact.

The EU really isn't globally influential...

Certain countries within it, absolutely. Some well 'above their weight'.

The EU institutions themselves? Pretty much irrelevant other than examples of how not to legislate.

For some strange and mysterious reason G7 leaders think the EU are important enough to have been invited to the G7 for the past couple of decades.

PistonHeads "The EU really isn't globally influential".

That's pretty funny hehe

You make a lot of good points on here, but that really is complete nonsense.
