If there is no spike from this weekend in the west of Scotland how the fk are they going to say lockdowns are still worth it.
As much as I hate the old firm I support this. Police Scotland are going to have a hard time from now on if they stop one or two individuals and do fk all about this.
I look forward to Falkirks league one title party
I share your deep dislike for the old firm, and find rangers attempts to mention 55 on every bit of communication to be desperate. Are they trying to convince themselves or everyone else? I'm beyond caring if they are the same club or a different one. Makes no odds to me.
On balance though I welcome it. Demonstrates that there are large numbers of people who are appearing day to day going along with this, but in reality are waiting for it to end to crack on it and probably aren't paying much attention to the restrictions behind the scenes.
Regardless , I suspect the SFA/SPFL will offer to stop lower league football again to atone for it, and I'm sure sturgeon will punish us all in due course.
Schools back tomorrow. Thank fk.
I feel a bit dirty for saying it but the government have almost got me to the point I'll accept any little morsels of freedom they give me back from this point in.
I have to pinch myself at times to realise the dystopian nightmare that has been the last ~12 months was real.
12 months ago to the day I was down at Twickenham with 80 odd thousand others, pubs restaurants etc and now.........

I think the response shows people (as has been the case for months) simply reading what they want from news articles.
Is it possible the impact of respiratory illnesses is greater next winter? Imo yes, particularly flu. However there is a big difference between bad flu winter (20-30k excess deaths) and whatever covid has done. Even a bad flu winter in recent memory has never got even close to the number of icu patients being treated for respiratory illnesses (twice).
so stating the obvious that the impact of flu might be considerable is not anything fearmongering or controversial as the people desperate for lockdowns to continue are jumping on it to claim it's eternal lockdown.
Obviously that article slightly discounts that we have wiped out 100k-ish older people so there should be less people to get impacted but it doesn't change that for everyone else it's entirely possible it might be a worse winter than normal.
Your posts are about the most lucid on here. Sceptical of the government approach coupled with short shrift of the tin foil hat approach. I use your input to inform my opinion. Good effort. They looked long and hard late into the night but alas this time the sofa was bare.
Surely they can find some kindly charity shop worker grannies who tragically were taken a few months early in January '20 to throw in the pot? Anyone?Boringvolvodriver said:

China’s Global Lockdown Propaganda Campaign
What does everyone make of this?
To me a lot of it makes sense. Looking back now, the videos coming out of China in January and February 2020 were obviously fake. Let alone the ridiculousness, the fact that they were making it out of one of the most controlled nations when the government didn't want them to should have rang alarm bells.
I remember at the time feeling as though something wasn't right about them and thinking they were probably fake, but not out right dismissing them as I do now...
Was our government and the rest of the west basically hoodwinked onto the most self destructive path in history?? Only time will tell but my god if there is any truth to this...
Interesting read, and deserves sharing. What does everyone make of this?

"Initially, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also opted for herd immunity. But on March 13, suspicious accounts began storming his Twitter feed and likening his plan to genocide. This language almost never appears in Johnson’s feed before March 12, and several of the accounts were hardly active before then. Britain locked down on March 23."
I did hear something last year about fake accounts and a surge of this type of thing happening in Italy.
All I can ask is what the hell?
If these accounts were fake etc surely the government knew.
There was good reason for caution back in March as it was unclear how dangerous the virus could be. Then people start panic buying, the news report on all of this and it takes on a life of its own.
Given it's a major plot line of Homeland, I can't see that "the West" would fall for it?
I think they tried to do this, as every nation does to each other all the time, but to be soundly duped doesn't add up to me. Their economic recovery is just a state of the current world affairs IMHO
