45th President of the United States, Donald Trump (Vol. 7)
Discussion
Am I right in thinking that the impeachment of Trump in the USA is falling apart - rather embarrassingly for the Democrats?
I've been trying to keep up with goings on via youtube and I get the impression that any 1st hand evidence has nothing to prove any criminal activity has taken place and any 2nd,3rd and 4th hand evidence is nothing more than hearsay with a simple agenda to try and remove the president from office.

that's what Impeachment actually means...![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Thanks for the replies.
I guess I meant "agenda" in terms of it being the democrats continued 'mission' since they lost to Trump back in 2016.
I get the picture that politics over in the USA is just as volatile as it is here with brexit, with every line of argument being taken to the far end of a fart.

The house will impeach, but the senate will not convict

It's called oversight.Congress has a duty to ensure the President doesn't break the law, by say, witholding aid from an ally in a hot war with an enemy state in order to further his own political aims.
But then Trump told me directly on the phone "no quid pro quo" and I only heard from ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE ELSE (most of whom are non-partisan career professionals) that he absolutely did put a hold on the aid, so that's fine then.

It's nearly Christmas. Chill out. None of your posting on here will be making the slightest difference. Trump advocates will think you're the mental one. Trump haters will already think your way so you're echoing in that chamber.
The US is suffering as we are at the moment. A proper dearth of quality candidates. To paraphrase George Carlin, when thinking about how dumb Trump is, remember that he beat opponents to get where he is today so how bad must they have been. And looking at the next round jockeying for position he must be laughing his tits off.
Have a mince pie and get some rest.

It's not a one off but something I do twice a day...
We are living through historic moments

Perhaps I could suggest some simple reading material for you, such as CNN's impeachment tracker
CNN is tracking the requests and subpoenas from House Democrats as they collect documents and testimony and move toward drafting articles of impeachment against Trump. If a majority of House lawmakers approve any of the articles, an impeachment trial will be held in the Senate.

and trump's attacked Macron - 'he's nasty' comments again
"NATO serves a great purpose. It got to be unfair for the United States because the United States was paying a disproportionate amount. And I hear that President Macron said NATO is "brain dead." I think that's very insulting to a lot of different forces. ... When you make a statement like that, that is a very, very nasty statement to 28 — including them — 28 countries. You have a real high unemployment rate in France. France is not doing well economically at all."
This is interesting - I wonder if it's true as South Korea refused to pay and went talking to China
Trump claimed that South Korea has agreed to pay "approximately $500 million a year more for protection," which he said is "fair" considering what the U.S. does for the country. He claimed there would be war in Asia if he weren't president and denied that Kim Jong-un is continuing to build his nuclear program, telling a reporter: "You don't know that."

GOP have produced their report:
The message of the document -- less a defense of Trump on the merits but rather an endorsement of his counterfactual denials -- was simple: Nothing Trump did when it came to Ukraine was wrong. His scheme run by personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to coerce Ukraine to investigate a political foe, Joe Biden, was just fine, according to the partisan document. Contrary to what top officials testified, there was no quid pro quo, House Republicans claim. And the whole Ukraine drama amounts to a coup by his "deep state" enemies -- despite an avalanche of evidence otherwise.
The report, which ignores significant and incriminating testimony against Trump, is a clear sign of confidence among Republicans that the pro-Trump conservative coalition will hold and that despite the apparent strength of the Democratic case, it will not cause a political earthquake in a tribalized nation that could see the President ousted.
The report's refusal to even acknowledge any inappropriate behavior by Trump -- in the face of direct evidence -- also offers a marker for how Republicans may approach an eventual Senate impeachment trial.
The report is so overtly partisan that it may undermine its own effectiveness among all but the President's strongest supporters.

most people just whine about trump because it makes them feel good, if they stopped this then he probably wouldn't get relected either imo
I find the attitude here in the UK towards Trump rather strange. He really does seem to be public enemy number one among left-leaning types. Those same types seem to ignore the truly evil leaders of this world such as Putin, Xi Jinping, Ali Khamenei and Bashar al-Assad, to name four.
And the reason for this hatred of Trump?
Well it mostly seems to be that he's a misogynist and a racist. So he doesn't preside over the internment of Muslims in China. I don't recall him organising the systematic bombing of schools and hospitals in Syria. And I'm fairly sure he hasn't imprisoned Nazanine Zaghari-Ratcliffe.
I'm not a Trump admirer, but in the grand scheme of things he's nothing compared to some of the ogres of this world.
