That's just an opinion piece about a city with a disproportionally large African-American community (many of whom went there to escape the inhuman Jimbeaux sorry Jim Crow laws) and appalling poverty. Quote some facts!

I think the stats everyone's badgering Jim for can be found here (albeit for 2009 - the more recent stuff's probably there somewhere);

It actually shows that in terms of absolute numbers white on white happens more often. Given the much smaller black population those figures are vastly disproportionate though, obviously.

It's true that if you are black American you are disproportionately likely to be a victim or a perpetrator of violent crime. You are also disproportionately likely to be living in poverty and discriminated against.

The point you and I were debating was that black on black crime is disproportionate. I have made that point with the facts. If you want to drift off into theories about socio-economics, that is your choice.

I didn't take that from his posts. I think BOB violence is less dangerous to ordinary people including blacks than other violence because it is largely confined to inner city ghettos or is inter-gang. If you are not part of that world, regardless of your own skin colour, you are unlikely to be affected.

Weapons are not illegal to use for the purpose of self defense here. Self defense is not a valid 'good reason' for acquiring a FAC but that's a different thing. If you were to shoot someone with legally held firearm, who you genuinely believed was threatening your life, then that's not an offense.
