If anyone thinks I have committed a hate crime by saying "i hate all chavs" then feel free to pass this onto the authorities...

I may make a video teaching my dog to wear a burberry cap and chant "gas the chavs" 20 times.... judging by another thread i'd be hero worshiped once they drag me off to the clink...

I'll get my go fund me page ready...

Yet you said you "hate all chavs"?

I was just asking how you would know what one looked like.
IMO it's not necessarily looks but behaviour that defines a chav. For example I'd class somebody walking around drinking cans of lager in the middle of the day, shouting at their kids whilst doing the shopping, doing handbrake turns in an Asda carpark etc as "Chav"/Dick behaviour.

But yet you don't feel the need to ask why someone would hate all Muslims?
I haven't read the whole thread so didn't see anyone say that. I read the last 2 pages and was questioning how one would tell the difference between a chav and someone wearing sportswear.

So a chav is only a chav when he is drinking a beer in public or shouting at children? No ody buy a chav does that? Doesn't seem correct to me.

“Shouting at children” in places like Asda definitely qualifies as “Chav” in my book. “Drinking beans of lager in the middle of the day” depends a bit more on context/behaviour.

What would your definitions be?

I don't think it is a real thing that can be defined hence my questioning. I've never seen the word "chav" really meaning anything and wouldn't label anyone with it which is ehy I was asking what people say a "chav" is.

Shopping as Asda doesn't make you lowlife and neither does disciplining your children or having a beer in public.

Having children or drinking a beer in Asda, however...

We'll have to disagree. I think disciplining your children in public is the height of chavdom - the specific example of I'm thinking of was a mum shouting (at full volume) at her crying 3 year old telling her to stop crying and that "she'd fking had enough of her". I understand that kids need disciplining but there are ways and means.

There's nothing specifically chav about shopping in Asda btw, I shop there regularly and one of my kids works there.

Well this might enlighten you then:

"chav

a young lower-class person typified by brash and loutish behaviour."

No mention of faith / race / colour etc.....simply a behavior...
Plenty of Muslim chavs around too.

Hilarious that suddenly a few PHers get professionally offended to the word "chav"....

Why is everyone so offended these days.......

It's a dictionary definition....

Some say it comes from the Romany "Chavi" to mean "child"...

Tends to be used agaisnt yoof more than not but yes people just say "chav" to anyone they think fits that look, or simply as a slight, basically i have called mates "chavs" in the past even though they are far from it.... its a piss take.
I certainly have never thought it was was a hate crime.....
Maybe it is, but frankly i don't care.

Isn't it pretty much the same as calling people white trash, or trailer trash in the USA?

The son of an immigrant becomes home secretary. OMG!

Wonder how our resident anti-multicuturalists feel about this.

The way I see it, chav = white trash. When I lived in the UK all the people behaving like chavs were white. You don't see many non whites in tracksuits or bare chested in town, with a cider can in their hand, shouting at passers by.

Its not an insult, MrBrightSi was something of a PH legend. There own Katie Hopkins.
For someone who has, supposedly only been here for 5 months, you claim to know a lot about posters in PH history.

On another note, the word is 'their'. I thought people as bright as how you imagine yourself, would have known that.

That may be the way you see it, but thankfully we are not all the same...
I see where you are coming from though.
I think if you want to get serious about it, it is a bit more nuanced than "drunk, bare chested and shouting".
You can call someone a Chav simply for driving a certain car for example.

Huh? He still posts, just not on this sub forum.....but google brings much of his content up. I simply wondered if you could stop posting here under one name and use the rest of the forum, but then start another account just for NPnE....

I think the suggestion was that you're a previously banned poster, not necessarily MrBrightSi.
