It really doesn't. The country is still destitute - the only place tax cuts really make sense are at the bottom, helping those who can't afford their rent. Cutting taxes for those on 100K or more would be another nail in the coffin of the Tory's.
Tax free allowance up to 14K would help the majority of people who need help.
So you can guarantee that they won't do that. (It'd cost billions regardless, so doubt they could even if they wanted to).
It'll be IHT - appeal to the grey vote, make no material difference to countries finances.
Ever heard of the Laffer curve?Tax free allowance up to 14K would help the majority of people who need help.

If a reduction in a tax rate increases tax revenue, why would any Government not do that, as it's a win-win for the tax man & the tax payer.

The tax a jump at 100k should never have happend as its 60% marginal iirc. Most people around the cusp put it into a pension so it raises little it literally punishes sucess.Tax free allowance up to 14K would help the majority of people who need help.

100k is a huge amount if you make 30k but it's a tiny amount if your super rich and drive a new ferrari. In essence the 100k is what 50k was back in the 80s.

Throw in student loan repayments and it's more than 60%...you're also going back a bit too far: £100k now was £50k in about 1997.100k is a huge amount if you make 30k but it's a tiny amount if your super rich and drive a new ferrari. In essence the 100k is what 50k was back in the 80s.

It depends what point we are on the Laffer Curve. If a reduction in a tax rate increases tax revenue, why would any Government not do that, as it's a win-win for the tax man & the tax payer.
I know that thoughts may be expressed on here about MP’s that appear negative
I also know that PH is at heart a caring community and that no one really wishes ioll of any MP
I have therefore today started my letters to the known MP’s that are leaving at the next election.
In it I will state that on behalf of the whole of the PH community we wish them well and thank them for their service.
It's the right thing to do
The list is long and so far is as below. I do wonder how many more will be added and perhaps Rishi himself will completely resign if a landslide loss to Labour happens.

The above rhetoric sounds desperate. Is Labour's recent council election disaster and Reeves' £28bn green spending pledge u-turn leading to squeaky bottoms as Starner faces a closing open goal? More u-turns to come as empty rhetoric plays catch-up? It looks very much so. Surely he can avoid more bloopers and at least give us a hung parliament,

What complete clown.
The woman instructed him to use the side of the hammer. What complete clown.
So his hammer skills are (marginally) better than Turbobloke's rebuttal skills.

Typical Labour stunt, it smacks of desperation given everything else Labour could attack Sunak / Tories over right now. What complete clown.
