Sir Clement Freud exposed as a paedophile
Telegraph said:
Sir Clement Freud, the former broadcaster and politician, was exposed on Tuesday night as a paedophile who sexually abused girls as young as 10 for decades.
Freud, who died in 2009, spent years abusing a girl who he brought up as a daughter, and violently raped a teenager while he was an MP.
His widow, Lady Freud, has apologised to his victims, saying she is “shocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorry” for what her husband of 58 years did to them.

Horribly disappointing news. Telegraph said:

The party have gone straight to apologise as well, rather than an attempt to defend his reputation.
There seems to have been an instant and total admission of guilt.
It all seems very strange. I usually don't like the accusation = definite guilt culture that is creeping in through the media (mass and social) - but the writing is definitely on the wall vis a vis his guilt if no one is contesting it.
But it does make you wonder why, when you natural instinct would surely to be to defend your loved ones reputation....

It is entirely plausible that his wife and others knew nothing.
People are horribly good at compartmentalising their life. There's the husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbour, and kindly old gent as well as the abuser.
Nearly all the time,as someone else, you will only see good facets. Sometimes he could probably convince himself that the bad part of him wasn't there...

HIs wife's comments certainly suggest she either knew about it or had her suspicions
No they don't at all! She says she is shocked, which implies that she had no idea about his actions.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
