I agree that clearly he hasn't done his homework yet but Trump tends to say what he intends to do first and then looks into the issue after which is what gets him into so much trouble.
He's having the meeting because obama wouldn't or couldn't, so he thinks it's a great coup for him, something he can boast about. It's worrying he hasn't given any thought to the possible tactics that will be played out, or the offers and counter offers to be made.

He's had Giuliani saying Kim was begging on his knees-not very conducive to a good start, that's a ritualised symbol of submission for them, not something Kim would ever do. After all it's his nuclear weapons that have trump making the meeting, not trump pushing it. Kim has forced the US to send their president, so called leader of the free world, to negotiate peace with them. Trumps ignoring that view in his usual egotistical way.

John Bolton pushing the Libya model, or saying that the US need to invade North Korea is they don't accept doing away with their nuclear weapons.

How's trump going to take it if Kim takes exception to all this and states it as the reason he doesn't want the meeting hours before, leaving trump Attwod their looking like an idiot. He's already proven many times he doesn't take criticism well, nor anyone stealing his limelight. Many have left teamtrump for doing precisely that.

Trump has a very limited, poor attention span. Will he even listen to any long arguments or discussions? What if Kim offers something but trump hasn't listened to the downsides, only hears what he wants. What checks and balances are there as he's surrounded himself with yes men?

Yes trumps having the meeting, but it's what Kim wants, he's running the issue, along with moon, who sees North Korea getting upset as very life limiting for South Korea.
There's a lot at stake, not only many South Korean lives, and trumps not preparing, just accepting the accolades and ratings.

It could be very worrying. It's a lot higher stakes than anything trump has ever played out before, without the safety net of someone bailing him out.

The article is in fact not satire.
Sorry to break it to you, but it is satire. It literally says "Satire from The Borowitz Report" at the top of the page! (Or am I due a parrot?)

Yep, sounds exactly how I would expect world leaders to speak:

“The plan was, if Trump asked about an after party, we were going to be, like, ‘Ask Angela Merkel,’ ” Macron said. “Angela was going to totally stonewall him.”

Merkel confirmed that she had planned to tell Trump that she “didn’t think anyone was planning to do anything” after the summit and steadfastly to deny “hearing anything” about an after party.

“I would have had no problem lying to him, despite our two countries going way back, to D-Day or whenever,” Merkel said, rolling her eyes.

Don’t worry. It’s not even in the top ten percent of ridiculous stories about Trump that are not satire.

Yes, the Orange Loony is now saying that he doesn't want tariffs between the G6+1, and it's not his fault anyway, but his predecessors.

Fricking coward - they all stood firm and he backed down.

He's the patsy for a Russian attack on western democracy.

So no.

How would you describe someone who publicly and frequently blamed six individuals (and others) for the economic position he's been put in, then once in private finds his loud braying bullying has had no effect and has to back down?

Interesting Fox (naturally) interview with Trump here from 2014. Of note are i) Trump's enthusiasm for economic meltdown and rioting in the streets as a vehicle for restoring the good ol' days, and ii) how much more lucid he was just a few years ago. Whole sentences and everything.

There are currently lots of tariffs, Trump added a few more, then said, what about if we just don't have tariffs at all? IE if you really believe in the free-trading world order you preach about, let's do it.

They won't because the EU is fundamentally protectionist despite what its leaders proclaim.

Fascinating proposal for all sorts of reasons.

Yup. Also worth pointing out Rome was not built in a day. It was entirely unrealistic to expect Trump to come away with any concessions on trade at the meeting.

From the article

Andy Borowitz is the New York Times best-selling author of “The 50 Funniest American Writers,” and a comedian who has written for The New Yorker since 1998. He writes the Borowitz Report, a satirical column on the news, for newyorker.com

edit: I see someone's already pointed this out, amazing how dumb people can be when it comes to anything about Trump

Macron remembered trumps last handshake and left a thumb mark on trumps hand after the latest handshake
https://mobile.twitter.com/corinne_perkins/status/...

It's not going well that G7 for trump is it. Who knew it could be so hard?
Still onto the meeting with Kim now for which he's done no prep. I mean, how hard can it be...

Trump has said he'll know within the fist minute with Kim, "my touch, my feel.thats what i do"
That's a direct quote of what he said. God help us...
Putin can't believe the payback on his investment...
