Don't understand this atall.

When the lunatics were targeting oil paintings ... because .... can't believe I am writing this.... of oil. It made little sense but there was a link there.

But this makes absolutely no sense

They're eco-nutters; it doesn't have to make sense.

I feel it makes perfect sense if you consider that some people are full of anger, hate and bitterness. Out of those people, some simply become yobs - bullying and beating anyone. Others, with perhaps a spark of intelligence, realise that they can cloak their underlying belligerence in theoretical "good intentions", thereby slaking their desire for violence and destruction while claiming they had higher purpose.

yes

Anti-capitalist groups recruit middle class hippies and sundry muppets for a figleaf cause who think they can play a nonsensical "with the angels" card.

(This is aimed at Bathroom_Security).

You do realise that JSO's own stated methods [in their own words - I am not writing in support of or agreement with them] are dramatic, public direction action to disrupt highly visible and significant activities and objects to keep their chosen cause in the public eye and force those in power to do something in the desired direction?

The individual actions are not about 'anti-oil', even by their own logic. They didn't throw stuff at Sunflowers, smash the glass of The Toilet of Venus or glue themselves to The Hay Wain because they were (or weren't) oil paintings. It's about dramatic action (or, protest verging on domestic terrorism).

There's no need for there to be a link.

What a load of bullst, no one "reflected" on climate change and changed their minds. All it does is piss people off and turn against JSO:

“(I thought) I might as well use this to reflect again on why I am being delayed. That is what I chose to do.

“I sat and contemplated the reason that might have motivated the protesters to take that action.

“I thought about whether that action was productive and what it was doing. I took it as an opportunity to reflect on the fact I was in a traffic system sufficiently fragile, even normal disturbance would cause significant delay.

“I reflected on the fact that I was sweating quite profusely, it was a day after the UK had recorded its highest-ever temperature and two days previously the Government’s net zero plan had been declared illegal.

“I understood, I think, why protesters were taking their action.

“This led me to sympathise with the fact that I needed to be put in a position where I was forced to think about the gravity of the situation.

“Rather than sit and fret and sweat, I thought I would run through a process that would make the experience positive.”

Why did I read that in a John Cleese (Reg) voice from Life of Brian?

Are they going to kidnap Pilot's wife and issue their demands?

For admitting thinking? Yeah, what an idiot. It seems lije quite a joined up piece of thought and not a knee jerk reaction. Minds are like parachutes, they only work when they are open. Many seem happy to hurtle to their death wrapped in the comfort of their intractable beliefs.
