Relax, that's a bit extreme.
Why don't we start hiring more police officers who don't assume that just because someone is black, they are a suspect?
That would be great.
Do you actually think there is a majority of police officers who think that way? Do you think that reflects society? Why don't we start hiring more police officers who don't assume that just because someone is black, they are a suspect?

As has been highlighted by the Covid19 issue (we are told the disease disproportionately affects minorities, but this is more to do with social class/ deprivation rather than biology) does this also reflect on the number of searches performed on minorities ?
I.e. people from an ethnic background are more likely to live in an area suffering from deprivation. Deprivation = more crime. More crime = more police/ targeting. More police/ targeting = more searches.
Family, ethnic backgrounds (not labeling all) tend to have a close family, so sometimes aunts uncles etc, share the same homes.
So obviously that creates a social distance problem and the Virus could spread.
2nd Not all of these people understand or speak English so unless it is explained to them in their own language that too could be an issue.
3 A lot of these groups work in Cleaning jobs and also NHS care home and NHS sectors, so that too can increase their exposure to the Virus.

Depends on the probability of a succesful claim.
Lawyers cost money. Do you think Bianca is going to spend her own money on this ?
If she loses it will be a big bill.
Personally, I think she'll be hard pushed to find a lawyer willing to take this on on a no win,no fee basis (although there is always the publicity aspect which some lawyers may find attractive).
BAME crowd funding - fight the institution. Get rid of the police and it will be happily ever after.Lawyers cost money. Do you think Bianca is going to spend her own money on this ?

Plenty of BAME lawyers will jump at the opportunity to do this pro bono to get their name in the limelight and plastered all over TV. Lawyers cost money. Do you think Bianca is going to spend her own money on this ?

They might even pay her so they can represent her.

I wonder how many more there are like this?
Three police officers in UK accused of racist remarks on WhatsApp
The police, to some degree, will mirror the society it recruits from. Three police officers in UK accused of racist remarks on WhatsApp
There will always be a few who are clearly not who we want as police officers.
Here's another recent example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-53354...
I remember this one which was bizarre (we were all briefed about 'the threat'): https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/08/bi...
The practical solution is to do what can be done to root them out as above.
What do you make of the IOPC announcement?
No big deal or are you surprised or disappointed or how do you see it?
It's over 30,000 police officers have 10s of millions of interactions with the public.
I have no issue with the IOPC looking at things like disproportionate things like stop and search to see if the activity is justified. Why now? Well it makes sense given the current global circumstances.

I must admit my gut reaction to the 250 number was "is that all" as it sounds very low. It's over 30,000 police officers have 10s of millions of interactions with the public.

Again can we just skip ahead to the part where anybody from BAME can just do what they want without being arrested or criminalized? Why don't we start hiring more police officers who don't assume that just because someone is black, they are a suspect?

IT'S NOT JUST WHITE PEOPLE WHO ARE RACIST
So we'd still have blacks who hate non blacks, Indians who hate Pakistanis etc
And why are you shouting?

No I don't at all, I just don't think enough of the them are willing to report the bad ones when necessary. Do you want to tell the others, or shall i?
And let's not forget my comment was in response to some angry person suggesting that they make an entirely "BAME" police force...

That cuts both ways. Someone who feels the police are racist (institutionally or personally) may be more likely to make a complaint.
ie. false or malicious complaints.
Dunno about that, maybe. But any false/malicious complaint wouldn't go anywhere would it? ie. false or malicious complaints.

I wonder how some of you guys would react if you'd been stopped, 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 times for no reason other than being black in a public place....
Would you all remain civilised, polite and calm?
Genuine question.
I would just point out to the officers I was white. But if I had to do it 50 times I might not be able to remain calm.Would you all remain civilised, polite and calm?
Genuine question.
