Trumps tweet wa sin fact just trump lying again. White House counsel has indeed limited the scope of the FBI inquiry into Kavanaugh sex abuse accusations.

Now, why would an unindicted co-conspirator appoint a compromised SCOTUS justice that could easily be blackmailed? biggrin

Surely the FBI can investigate wherever the evidence leads? They are not beholden to a presidents whims.

Trump won't like it when he spots this on Fox TV: if Democrats take control of the House after the mid-terms, there's a 100-year-old law that would allow them to investigate his tax returns. Without needing his permission.

This is why the WH doesn't want the FBI to inquire about K's drinking at Yale. because there are classmates ready to directly contradict him, which would open him up to perjuring himself to the Senate (and therefore a disqualifier separate and apart from the Ford allegation

A member of Christine Blasey Ford's legal team tells NBC News neither Ford nor her lawyers have been contacted by the FBI since Trump ordered the supplemental FBI background investigation Friday.

Is the FBI going to re-interview Kavanaugh? That would usually be standard in this sort of case, and he couldn’t bluster his way through an interview by questioning the questioners like he did in the Senate

After the hearings, 51% of people said they are less likely re-elect their senators. And people found Dr. Christine Blasey Ford more believable (50%) and credible (48%) than Kavanaugh (44% for both.) 50% of people said they will view the Supreme Court as less credible if the Senate confirms Kavanaugh

So, split down the middle, as with everything?

Just proves "Trial by television" is a poor path to justice if nothing else.

Well, the FBI is on it now, although worryingly there seems some doubt as to whether they are being restricted somehow by the WH.

The one thing Kavanagh consistently refused to go along with was an FBI investigation, which does seem rather suspicious if he is innocent.

The NY Times is reporting that McGahn, working with McConnell/Senate GOP, is indeed setting FBI limits: only 4 people are approved for FBI interviews: Judge, Keyser, PJ Smyth & Ramirez. FBI to ask Judge about Swetnick allegations, but not Swetnick. Question of Kav downplaying drinking are off limits

Ramirez gave the FBI the names of witnesses who will *corroborate* her claims It these are not being allowed to be questioned

Charles Ludington, a former basketball player and friend of Kavanaugh’s at Yale, told Washington Post on Sunday that he plans to deliver a statement to the FBI field office in Raleigh on Monday detailing violent drunken behavior by Kavanaugh in college.

The whole process has been a GOP whitewash exercise

Trump and Kanye have a lot in common, actually. Both believe they are far more gifted than they actually are. Both are known to deliver rambling, nonsensical speeches. And both profess to love someone named Kim.

Can someone explain how the White House can instruct the FBI how to conduct their investigation?

Telling them who they can and can't speak to?What questions they can ask?

I genuinely don't understand this.

It's a good question to which I don't know the answer. White house spokesperson Raj Shah has said it's the senate setting the parameters, but Don McGahn, white house counsel is apparently setting the parameters and working closely with the FBI

One of the Watergate prosecutors has said:
I call on all witnesses to any drinking or sexual misconduct by #Kavanaugh and those with knowledge of his $200,000 debt to come forward. Plus those who know he knew about Kozinski misconduct while clerking for him, not after Kozinski resigned.

Surely even if he is now confirmed, he is done? How can he ever make it through this? People will not forget. If (big if mind...) the democrats ever get into power again solidly, they will simply impeach him. They will not let this lie ever.

He seems a bit like Trump himself. Could have kept banking big bucks, had an easy ride, and retired into obscurity and wealth. Instead he decided to run for the highest position in the land, and now people will pick apart every single thing he has ever done.

Another greedy idiot basically.
