Odds down again for Conservatives today, Paddy Power now showing their lowest odds for a Tory majority at 1/4.

Still positively in favour of them to twin of course, but it's a shame so many old people believe the hysteria around the economy rather than realising borrowing money to investing it wisely can make you money. It's what businesses do everyday.

Hopefully people can ignore the eleventy million Tory posters on every stretch of road in the UK farmers fields...

Only one sensible way to vote on June the 8th.
fortunately
"older people" remember us having to go to the IMF just borrowing money to invest.
Older people don't want to saddle young people with massive debts that will take generations to pay off .
Don't worry, I'm only joking. Not all old people...

It was mostly aimed at those who assume anyone young (normally educated) people must be wrong as they're not old. Not that I'm young myself, of course.

Tories will win but I couldn't bring myself, as an educated person with children, to vote for the Conservatives

Edit, can't get link to work properly.

I don't want to get melodramatic. (maybe just very concerned!)

But as a Proud Englishman who voted to Leave the EU. I've actually been thinking for the first time in my life.

"If Corbyn got in and the country WILL be ruined. Where could I emigrate to?" (Germany and Switzerland are the current favs biggrin Japan would be brilliant, but I'm not sure on the lingo wink )

I doubt I will, but even when Blair won, although I didn't agree with a lot of what he said, I didn't think he'd smash the UK to pieces! It's a bit troubling
Similar thought's have crossed my mind... similar destinations too.

It's not as if I want a Tory government, but I fear a Corbyn Labour one would screw the country up for a generation.

sneering labourite voters suggesting that only thick older people vote Conservative seems to be an older theme from last year.

Why do people always want to go to Germany? It's more left than here, with better schools, better roads, better public transport, better health services, longer and better benefits for maternity/paternity, larger public sector spending...

It sounds like the worst place on earth to 99.9% of PistonFaces.

As said, it's not what I believe, merely in retaliation to those posting nonsense about young people.

I actually think however, it's been a better debate than normal around here and it's only a true gesture as to how well Corbyn has done. May has done the best she can though, to be fair. Fair play to her making a couple of debates in her state.

I just genuinely couldn't bring myself to vote for the Conservatives having worked in both the private and public sectors over the last few terms. The damage done to schools, especially this first year 11 cohort is going to cripple them...

I'm sure JJlynn will pop in to defend us oldies in a bit.... wink

Ironically I agree that Tories will win but I couldn't bring myself, as an educated person with children and grandchildren, to vote for the Labour party,

I have seen the damage caused to Liverpool when militant had a strangle hold on the labour Party and almost bankrupted the City and the same people now called momentum are waiting in the wings like a dark evil shadow. How could you vote for that.

Sure but they don't borrow to buy votes from the electorate - and they understand what borrowing is and what the costs are down the line (unlike Corbyn, McDonnell and Labour in general).

Corbyn and Labour would be a real downhill slide for the UK, here's hoping enough people see sense on the 8th.

Germany is a nice place to live though, and I know plenty of Germans who live there who I visit. Obviously like any place it has its share of stholes.

We holiday in Germany most years.

Some of the big cities have issues, as they do everywhere.

Berlin continues to be awesome, I'd have no problem living there. I'd love an apartment on Karl Marx Allee, or an old house in Prenzlauerberg.

Outside of the big cities there are some real gems, too. We visited Jena this year. What an amazing, chilled out, family and friends orientated place.

It's notable that Germany's left don't have the same rabid hatred of personal and corporate success as the British left.

Yet they still vote for them in droves. Derek Hatton and his cronies are still held up as heroes. Utterly baffling.

Maybe because Germany don't have the same tribalism in politics where anyone left leaning is shouted down as a 'looney' or continually told there isn't a 'magic money tree'.

The 'left' (or the unions) have real power and representation in industry, this has stopped the earnings gap from growing too wide and ensured workers get a fair deal, rather than being screwed for the benefit of shareholders.

It's a much fairer and more balanced society out there.

But then they also have proper family and friends time. The whole ethos is very different. They still have collective social responsibility.

Possibly because the left in Germany aren't loonies, and don't believe in the magic money tree.
