Ah! So you’re the one who blipped the thrust near the weather station hehe

I’d have thought understanding of the engine (and rest of the aircraft) would go with the type rating. Do you have to demonstrate knowledge of the aircraft mechanics and its components like the PPL? (Genuine interest!)
Yeah it’s like that, there’s the ATPL exams which generally cover technical stuff and weather, navigation etc but then you do a type specific technical exam as part of your type rating (for the aircraft you fly when you get a job) then there’s hours in the simulator and line training in the real aircraft before you get qualified on it fully.

Some are classed as common types like B757/767 and B777/787 so you get a type rating on them that covers both but you might then have to do a differences course (more technical exams and simulator) to enable you to fly both.

The technical exams cover engines plus the performance exams cover landing and take off performance, then you obviously have to have a good understanding based on knowledge and experience of stopping the aircraft and which exits you can use at different airports.

In your opinion - and we all understand that only your opinion matters to you.
He’s talking about people arguing with me a pilot about piloting stuff.

All of which can be performed in a superior manner by a 3rd rate CPU and a few sensors.

No AI involved.

Why can some of the contributors to this thread not just say occasionally "OK, I was wrong. You know more about this than me"?

Some of the argument on this thread is pathetic.

roflroflrofl

Don't be silly. The posters on PH will argue with Wind Farm insiders about "windymills", Pilots about jetwash etc etc etc whilst posting deliberately misleading google memes as demonstrated on the previous page.

"OK I was wrong"? You'll never hear that on here even if Einstein himself were to come back and post laugh

Reading this is a great way to start your day though thumbup

Pretty sure they know all about the subject covered here. They are experts.
They don't need to be experts on the Dr Ottmar Endenhofer quote - they just need to have seen the context and full content. rolleyes

He did, but he wasn't put right by random members of the public writing into the letters page of the Evening News.

Think of this thread as the modern day equivalent of the letters page.

This a strictly back water website for nerds with cars!

But since you were the one to introduce Einstein as some basis of discussion (and he did recognise that he was wrong) I doubt that witterings of mystic met had much to do with any decisions that that chap made.

Sorry Loonytunes, obviously my inference was too subtle for you.

Did I mention any quote?

No, but you referenced an article that addressed the quote. So what are your thoughts on the quote and it's usage by climate deniers? biggrin

Are you now asserting that there is a homo-sapien that refuses to accept that there is a climate?

Absolutely. Possibly down to deep-seated insecurity, resulting in a desire for "approval" from a load of anonymous people on the internet.

it's funny how misdirection is supposedly only from one side on here. where did anyone attempt to tell you how to operate an aircraft ? your question was why don't temp spikes occur all the time for the same reason. my reply was they probably do, but when they occur and in what circumstances will be the difference between the numbers making news headlines and no one noticing. we had a small amount of data to look at. if anyone knows where to see a few weeks of daily data then it would be easy to check. now tell me how that is not a valid reply to your question?
i note you offer no alternative explanation for the temp spike.

when it comes to technical numbers on 747's a quick call to my father is easier than google.
