The police and CPS still look at cases on an individual basis, albeit in the light of guidelines. There is an emphasis on domestic violence because it tended to be treated unduly lightly in the past, but not every case results in nuking from orbit.
Well that's almost half right. There's an emphasis on domestic violence, including now emotional/psycho abuse, because treating it with undue lightness in the past led to so many instances of disastrous consequences which spread out far beyond even the immediate victim (her/him)self.
And EVERY case (bar this one) requires in depth investigation, not least because there are children around, and suggestions of misuse of drugs which can be an indicator of all kinds of chaotic conduct.
So what makes THIS case exceptional? Domestic abuse, drug taking, children in the environment, chaotic socio-economic evidence. Yet no further enquiries? Why?

PS: care to share with us your extensive professional experience of the police, CPS, and court system?
I'm in the "what purpose does it serve" camp.
To be fair the whole trial of these two girls seemed like a public slanging match, what cost was the trial itself ?, 2 weeks was it?.
I'm still amazed the "financial director" hasn't been fired as he appeared to be responsible for letting it get that bad, and came across as inept the whole way through.

Plenty of people get stopped on Road Wars et al with Class A drugs and are either cautioned or let off due to insufficient evidence.
Some people moaning about the way Lawson has been "Let off" need to get a grip and try thinking objectively.
Absolutely. Police have no interest in mild/occasional end use by anyone. Some people moaning about the way Lawson has been "Let off" need to get a grip and try thinking objectively.

George Michael, Kerry Katona, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Gabriel Thomson (the list goes on) were all 'of interest' to police.

She has given her first interview to promote her new series
St Nigella is she not radiance personified ?
I agree, I particularly like her commentSt Nigella is she not radiance personified ?
" since the trial I've been eating a lot of chocolate "
Before anyone can say advocaat she'll be admitting she likes snowballing.
I might have been reading between the lines, but has'nt she been doing the rounds of the US shows saying how she didn't take coke or something like that despite admitting that she did in the trial?
Also the whole 'nicey, nicey' approach she takes on her shows makes me a bit nauseas now.

How do you define mild/occasional, would it be because the end user said so?

I don't need to. The police aren't interested in them, any more than the countless unnamed middle and low income users. They just get reported by the low brow media.George Michael, Kerry Katona, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Gabriel Thomson (the list goes on) were all 'of interest' to police.
Essentially, if you aren't dealing and you dont hurt yourself/nearest and dearest, the police aren't interested, regardless of social strata.

Thanks. I hope he never is faced with the challenge of standing for office. It would, at the very least, curtail his chances of visiting the US if he were to reach high office...

Actually, I think he's intending to stand as a Lab candidate in the next election. US visiting won't be an issue. Different rules for the well connected. Like the dealing. Anyway, the way it's looking marijuana won't be a moral turpitude issue for much longer in the US.
Indeed. I was surprised Adrian Sutil didn't have to sit out at least US and China GPs. Different rules again, I guess.Anyway, back to the financial stuff rather than the hand-wringing over drugs...

I had wondered if that was next, the FD has a lot of questions to answer, and possibly a large bill for Saatchi to pay."Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson could face an investigation into their tax affairs after the acquittal of two former aides on fraud charges.
