I'll obey the law.
I don’t follow? Are you saying that your word should be good enough? Should that apply to everyone, or are you special?
I replied I'll follow the law on this matter.
You've then dug for clarification.
If you don't know what the current UK legal requirements are regarding cancelling the licence fee, go and look them up.
He hopes you won't ask why the Police would require evidence of an offense to obtain that same access because then he would have to pretend he'd let the Police toss his house without a warrant, because if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to hide.
Assuming you don't agree that the instruments of state should be able to ask you to prove your innocence in other areas on a whim, why do you think the BBC should be different?

It’s only a bit of fun
I think we've established the BBC haters don't do comedy or 'fun' it seems.Go on, what comedies do you like?
You see i am capable of realising that i don’t like everything the BBC produce but knowing some people will like it and the BBC cater for all tastes.
One BBC comedy I do like is W1A, I've just got to figure out if it's actually a comedy or a documentary.

So you know what I don’t watch the stuff I don’t like and get on with my life without frothing about it, you should try that approach
You're posting a lot about this a lot for someone "getting on with their life without frothing about it."You see i am capable of realising that i don’t like everything the BBC produce but knowing some people will like it and the BBC cater for all tastes.

Good hit
I don't pop in here as often as I used to, but when did it become over run with gormless idiots applauding one another? A good hit! Is this really the level of discussion nowadays, I suppose it regression therapy.

Meanwhile the BBC is still facing meaningful review, which is good.

He's pretty clear, he's going to cancel the license fee and stop watching TV. You are picking at that because you think the BBC should be able to reverse the burden of proof so that that OP has to prove there's been no offence, because obviously he'll still be watching TV.
Assuming you don't agree that the instruments of state should be able to ask you to prove your innocence in other areas on a whim, why do you think the BBC should be different?
I wasn't demanding that he prove his innocence, I was curious as to how he might feel about that innocence being verified.Assuming you don't agree that the instruments of state should be able to ask you to prove your innocence in other areas on a whim, why do you think the BBC should be different?
We all drive within the speed limits; speed cameras test our commitment.

Speed cameras test that you're using your vehicle appropriately. They ("They", not the cameras) don't verify that people without a driving licence are infact, not driving anywhere

We don't verify innocence, we prove guilt. Innocence doesn't need to be verified, because we're all innocent until proven guilty.
The BBC situation traduces that principle.
Not really. If you have a TV in your house it will be capable of receiving live transmissions. If you assert that it does not, it seems reasonable to prove such. If you point a gun at my head I won't take your word for it that it's not loaded, and therefore not being used for its primary purpose. The BBC situation traduces that principle.
