so was this beating an official punishment for those crimes? (on top of whatever he'd already got for the robbery and wife-beating)

no it wasn't

try not to be so easy
Remember that he's black, so it doesn't really matter what happened to him.

Now that was clever; everyone clap. Good God, PH has certainly gone downhill. The dilution is cancerous.

Try not to be so ill-informed. Go "exist" in that area for even a short time and come back to discuss righteousness. It really is not that simple.
that's quite frankly bks

it is this simple, he wasn't beaten for his previous crimes and convictions, he wasn't beaten for his future yet-to-be-committed crimes so they are all irrelevant

he was beaten for resisting arrest in whatever half-arsed way he did - he wasn't a PCP superman beating the cops with his bare hands, he was a belligerent drunk, and that doesn't justify the beating he got

Of course not. What I am stating is that there is a bigger picture that you do not grasp that only time spent "in teater" can convey. Strick to what you know.....was it you or someone else trying to use Katrina and New Orleans as an example yesterday?

This is quite a simple case. Rodney King had problems with alcohol and did not have a good past (wife beating etc) He was committing offences when he was pulled over and deserved to be arrested.

What he did not deserve was the beating which was given to him. You can argue in many ways that his past actions meant he was a "wrong un" but the way the LAPD treated him that night was disgraceful. They could have placed him in cuffs much earlier.

Was it a race issue? The LAPD might have done this to white suspects as well, but Rodney was not white and this time it was filmed.

When the officers were cleared, it appeared to be saying that "it´s ok to beat a black suspect" and that is why the people rioted.

Rodney King was not a nice man and had his trouble with alochol, but just because of those things he did not deserve the beating.... simple really

There was a bit on QI the other night about the Pentagon having twice as many toilets as necessary as when designed they wanted separate toilets for 'coloureds'. Shocking really. Apparently the female employees love it though...

You don't like to be challenged do you Jimbeaux?

You're right and if anyone disagrees with you they're an idiot or they don't know what they're talking about.

I've read your posts over years and years. I may have only created a profile a few months ago but I've been reading here for years. Common themes are a haughty, patronising tone, thin skin, claiming that Fox News isn't biased to the right, black people are the authors of their own misfortunes, the bizarre claim that Hurricane Katrina wasn't a massive balls-up.

Don't admit it if you can't face it but there it is.

edit- You don't want anyone to mention Hurricane Katrina even though you feel completely unconstrained in freely criticising or commenting on British news stories. Ho-hum.

Thereby proving that they weren't racists

if they were racists they would either not employ "coloureds" and thereby saved their cash or would have just banned them from using the "Whites only" ones.

wink

The big picture is that it is was OK to beat the st out of black men, because they've always done it, the jury though it was OK to beat the st out of black people, the riot that followed was simply a reaction by black men who didn't think it was fair to have the st beated out of them whenever the police felt like.

While we are on that subject, I'll have a Hot Smoked Salmon on Horseradish Toast please. A Crab toastie and a salad if that is not on today. OK, back to your bit.
