The fact that the London Underground doesn't even have phone signal says it all. Even the Indian one does.
For how long will these low class scum with their menial jobs continuously get protected over the technological progression of the underground.
The city is rotten to the core.
First time I have ever quoted the same post twice, I think. For how long will these low class scum with their menial jobs continuously get protected over the technological progression of the underground.
The city is rotten to the core.
To be fair to you, it's a stunning post.
Salt and vinegar with your chips? Jealous much?
Anyone who wants to halt the progression of a country or hold people for 'ransom' in bid for their own benefits is a waste of space in my eyes.

Just to confirm, in your eyes what am I jealous about?

There's been a lot of criticism of the terms and conditions the tube drivers enjoy. Lots of implication that they are not worth what they are paid.Anyone who wants to halt the progression of a country or hold anyone to ransom in bid for their own benefits is a waste of space in my eyes.
I think you came across as being envious of their terms and conditions.

This strike will achieve nothing but to hasten that automation, and trying to screw every last penny out the taxpayer is understandable to a degree, but the greed is excessive.
Its a political strike for sure, bullying 1970s tactics, acting against its members interests by venal leadership.
Why would you think that strike will hasten automation? I've seen that theory repeated again and again, without single coherent thought behind it. Is that something that you like to believe will happen? Its a political strike for sure, bullying 1970s tactics, acting against its members interests by venal leadership.

Far from the socialist leaning you would expect from a unionized workforce, its all about grabbing what you can and screw everyone else.
Or maybe it's about management abiding by existing agreements and where change is proposed, meaningful and constructive negotiations take place rather than the situation we have at present where changes are being bulldozed through without a care on how it affects its employees.
Oh, and by the way, this is not a 'drivers' strike. All grades from station staff, signalling and control room staff, power control staff and even some management grades are on strike. To piss them all off at once takes some doing, even on the underground.

The benefits package received i.e. pay plus travel benefit plus massive pension is a total joke, and if there was any sort of genuine free market / competition for tube drivers, the true market value would likely be less than half what they are currently getting.
The sooner the Unions wake up and smell the coffee in the real world, the better.

Free market and competition from private companies like the drivers working on the national rail network? Rick101 said:
Lot of bull assumed about T&C. How much leave is it normal to get in a professional job?
In my experience its about 25 days. There are not many jobs that will pay 50k + overtime, with 40 + days holiday after 6 only months training.
Most professions would require an element of professionalism and commitment for those T&C's, not acting like a tt everytime your employer tries to change anything.
Can you tell me which of the national rail hauliers are UK publicly owned?
Virgin?
First?
DBS?
Can you back up your sarcasm with some information? Unlike most on here im happy to be proved wrong and learn something new.

About 25 is fair. I'd guess most get bank holidays like Christmas day off work too? I don't work for TFL so don't know their specific package but I imagine its similar to NWR. We get 28 days. Add the 8 bank holidays which most people would expect off and you're up to 36 days. I understand they work an additional 4 days over the year and this is evened out by giving back the 4 days in lieu. So, 40 days then. Seems a lot when you put a slin on it but not a great deal more than average.
