So not a 'firearm', like you said.
If a member of the public were found to be carrying one they would be prosecuted under the same law with the same penalties, as you well know; try not to be so disingenuous. In fact, IIRC, it's the only non-rocket / missile 'firearm / prohibited weapon' that doesn't.

Tasers are 'section 5 firearms' - do they not teach you these basic facts at cop school?Practically, a distinction is made between non-lethal S5 prohibitive weapons and lethal barrelled weapons.

No I wouldn't be 'keen to stop' any mans vehicle. I don't feel obliged or entitled to stick my nose in other peoples business - and if I did, I wouldn't be surprised if I got permanently dealt with.
Where did I write stop 'any mans (sic) vehicle'? BossHogg said:
I don't know what police officers carrying firearms has got to do with a Highways England Traffic Officer getting killed by a motor vehicle on duty!
I think he got a bit confused. La Liga said:

He's treading a fine margin if he was willing to plead to death by careless but not death by dangerous.
It might be that an ultra cautious moderator deleted posts about the trial (although nothing that could be contempt had been posted). Or a moderator concerned about good taste got rid of some of 220isplenty's absurd rants, which had no place on a thread about a man killed and another paralysed while doing public duties.

They have this law in Florida, you have to move over to the middle (or left) lane on a dual carriageway, or slow down to 20mph below the limit if you can't move over when there's an emergency services vehicle at the side of the road.https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/202302

The stuff about the text conversation doesn't make for pleasant reading. But apparently it was like driving on ice, so probably nothing to do with the texting on his phone.

Or maybe you did moderate your speed?! We've all encountered people with such an attitude. I see a few every journey who avoid being in this situation by blind luck Sounds like a prize a

I used to be a moderator on a roadside assistance forum. The recovery industry has been pushing for a "slow down, move over" rule for years.
I've noticed that a lot of drivers in the n/s lane will pull out when there a recovery vehicle on the hard shoulder. I've taken to doing so myself now. Derek Smith said:
