Well that was a bit of a surprise.

While Boris must ultimately be judged on results, this isn't a great look for him/his govt.

Maybe the new guy will come out and step on the mansion tax and pension rumours and Javid will be under the bus.

It seems like Boris is keen to give us all a fun ride smile

Poor

He gave upteen media interviews, appeared in leadership debates and was in virtually all their advertising. In terms of commitments made the buck stops with him not with Javid. He has every right to put together a team that he feels will deliver and he will be judged on the results in 4 years time (not Javid if he had stayed in place)
You seem to be getting rather worked up & defensive about this ....no need to be rude old man...

Disappointed that Geoffrey Cox has left (forced to resign?) to be replaced by Suella Braverman, but the removal of Sajid Javid seems a bit brutal and frankly shocking!

As others have said, I liked him as Home Sec but wasn't sure of his promotion to Chancellor however, we will never know how good he would have been now but I hope he gets something worthwhile in the future as he comes across as a good politician.

I trust this isn't all being driven by Cummins??

One of the new chaps has a bit of a cold and cough but the others are quite healthy.

Even if it is, Boris owns it, and has to wear it.

Was it not the treasury which was the source of the bonkers Mansion Tax plans and the pensions tax relief plans? If so then it’s probably good news he’s gone.

Agreed, BJ is ultimately responsible and I hope he is keeping Cummins on a short leash otherwise this will quickly become a farce, and we don't need that at any time, particularly just now.

Liz Truss must have some serious dirt on BoJo to stay in her job.

In that case Priti Pathetic must have a lot more!

C'mon, keep up, it's Priti Vacant, although ruder versions are available for deployment in the event of something truly horrendous.

She's strong on the "hardline" rhetoric though, and I think that goes down well with a lot of their (particularly new) voters.

Boris comes up with mad spending plans and limits what taxes can be increased. The treasury response with other taxes.

You wouldn't want Boris to look like he lied when he can't fund his spending plans would you.

When one considers that Bojo himself appointed Sajid after becoming PM, then what does that say about the PM's ability of choosing the right person for the job in the first place?

An utterly shambolic tory party are making themselves look daft but anything Dom wants, Dom gets!
...This and other similar comments are a pretty good sign that Boris has likely pulled a blinder

How so?

His job as PM is to do the best by the country as a whole, not wind up those who didn't vote for him in an election he won with a huge majority.

Exactly. Given that Boris has a thumping majority, if a Minister doesn't toe the line they can be ejected with no qualms, after all Boris is PM and the rest need to understand the chain of command and its implications - including putting ego aside. Javid refused to implement something the PM wanted to do, so true to his form as a petulant child, he's gone one way or another, what else would anybody without an anti-Boris or anti-Tory agenda expect.

It's highly amusing listening to childish and impotent jibes from abject failures such as Corbyn, temporary leader of monumentally shambolic Labour, and whoever the latest leader of the exceptionally shambolic LibDems may be. To each of the above, physician heal thyself. Both are bordering on the irrelevant.

Or alternatively the fiscal rules the treasury are fond of relaxed.

They ran away from those years ago when austerity was shown to be a failure for the economy.

I think that it's refeshing that discipline is being restored, and it's not all leaks and opinion poll politics.

HS2 starts getting leaked before the announcement and hey presto, they're all binned.

Should make the rest fall back into line.
