Just back from the school run and there were noticeably less parents and cars waiting for kids ... plus I went to the local Morrison’s earlier for some booze and there were ALOT of kids in there both with parents and in groups as if it were the summer holidays!

I don’t understand if you’re keeping them off out of fear of getting the virus, why then allow them to wander about in shops etc... just doesn’t make any sense to me when they could be in a safe and structured environment!

Many schools are sending anyone with a cough home. My son is 20+ days into his cough (and has seen a doctor) and is absolutely fine, but can't go to school for another 14 now!

I have to do food shopping and there are no delivery slots available, so unless I leave a 5 year old at home he has to come with me!

My eldest has announced his school will be shutting on Monday due to a lack of bus drivers as the bus firm say it's not essential travel!

20 teachers in a small village secondary are social distancing as they are in high risk groups. 2 years are off tomorrow.

Year 7 will not be allowed time off as some children are only 12 and can't be left at home.

Yep, all our kids come in on school transport with escorts (not that sort). Most escorts and some drivers are 70+ so next week no taxis and buses. No kids, half staff numbers, no option but to close the school.

Gov. keeps hinting. I'm guessing schools will remain closed after Easter hols.

My son's primary school has just this minute announced closure of nursery, reception and year 1 with immediate effect due to staff shortages.

My daughter's secondary school (London) closed its doors today as one of the teachers has been tested +ve.

She'll be doing school work from home for the next week and a bit.

My other half is a teacher, she's just received an email saying they will be closing from Thursday until Easter.

The next logical step for the government is to shut all schools, they need somewhere to store all the bog rolls and ventilators.

Wife is a teacher, still working but the school is prepared for closure (workbooks etc for the kids). Cleanliness is the priority in class with regular hand washing etc.

I saw a number of people locally taking their kids out of schools but then seemed to drag them around the shops and supermarkets, so does not seem sensible to me if they are concerned about transmission of the virus.

Secondary school nearest to where I live had 446 kids off today, out of 1300.

The parents are taking Boris's decisions for him.

Wow! Teacher daughter said there was same off today as yesterday - about 50 - at her school of just under 1600.

its a catch 22 and her hands do look sore but she can use hand cream etc, better some short term discomfort than getting a little ill spreading it to your family and elderly neighbors etc who then don't survive. Same situation with my kids but its lesser of two evils really is.
Also if we make our own kids lives a bit uncomfortable its surely a clear message we can suck up a little pain like maybe not go to the pub, smoke for a few months or vape, void the big nights out etc with crowds of people. The virus then slows right down a vaccine is found life goes on etc.

My son’s school has closed the boarding houses, whilst my daughter’s remains open.

We have brought both home tonight.

I've survived two days of isolation with my 5 year old child and already I have to give some thought to which day it actually is! A conservative estimate would suggest a minimum of another 34 days to go (after the Easter holidays).

School have sent resources out this evening so that's something, yesterday we did some planting in the garden, went for a short walk, played on the Switch and between us we've basically had 4 days worth of food!

Today I tried to actually work from home a bit, so he spent longer on the Switch than is probably acceptable in terms of good parenting. Also consumed another 4 days worth of food.

He's great company but 36 days with anyone with nowhere to go is going to be challenging!

We’re doing what we can at home, dabbing dry with microfibres etc, but school is all paper towels and probably basic soaps. TBH there’s some reassurances she’s coming home like this, reception must be a breeding ground for germs so they’re taking action.

Will try aveeno (if I can get it!) thanks. We’ve been using coconut oil in the day and sudocreme at night the last couple of days. Again, much worse than the alternatives of being super spreaders!

In related news, stupidly or not, I’ve offered myself up to her school as an additional body if needed for break/lunch cover etc. I’m DBS checked, live across the road and work from home so no great bother for me, and anything I risk catching would likely come home with her anyway. They might not be able to run their own checks or make use of me anyway, but if I can muck in it might help.
