I must have watched a different clip.

Wouldn't surprise me if we get a revision of the highway code where vehicles have to stop for passing cyclists at some point.

Either you're on the wind up or not safe to hold a driving license.
I don't think one's opinions affect one's eligibilty to keep a driving licence.

The highway code .
The highway code says a lot of things. Most of them completely ignored by cyclists.
Really, most...go on list a few, let alone most. I think you will find motorists break far more rules than cyclist, but of course that doesn't matter, does it?

He simply drove without due care and attention and got prosecuted for it. I would expect any road use to get prosecuted for breaking a rule. Saw a cyclist jump a blatant red light, should be prosecuted, saw a man in a brand new Jag on the phone....prosecute them.

Maybe the anti cycling brigade on here need to take a hard look at all bad roads users.

Bravo, grade-A blinkered stereotyping there.

That Land Rover driver was being an absolute grade-A moron and was quite rightly given a criminal conviction for his behaviour.

You might want to see the incidents that he couldn't see fault and danger.

Of course an online opinion doesn't affect eligibility to keep a driving license, but if he can't see and often endorses bad driving the likelihood is his driving is no better.

Perhaps, but I'm not quite sure how you'd fit them to a Land Rover.

Can’t see the Land Rover did anything wrong TBH. It appears she fell over because the cyclist in front stopped, she wasn’t expecting it and couldn’t unclip in time. I’d say the blame was with the cyclist in front, who managed to not fall over. I speak as both a cyclist and motorist.
If you can’t see how the LR did anything wrong then you’re not a very good driver.
Why do you think that? Have you seen me drive?

Driver was a bellend.

Clearly some people here have no idea what it’s like riding a bike, you don’t cycle dead straight as if you were on a tightrope. The driver should have slowed right down.

It’s amazing the lack of respect cyclists have in this country. I appreciate there are plenty of bellends on bikes, but that’s people for you.

I've fallen off a bike more times than Eddie the Eagle has had hot dinners, due to decades of racing mtb's and road riding, I've done this numerous times and a lot worse, been in closer shaves with vehicles, even got taken into a petrol station on a left hooker, I haven't reported anyone ever or recorded anything.

I can tell from many years also working in a bicycle shop these are old duffer noobs with all the shiny gear and literally no idea. I'd say 80% on the cyclists and 20% on the Landy for going a bit fast, they always look like they're going faster for some reason. The lady needn't have fallen off if she had a clue about not having her cleats so tight and reading the road ahead that they'd stopped.

Blame everyone else but your own self and maybe get compensated too, the Landy had an L plate on the back, I dunno maybe a sheep was choking or something and he had to hurry along. They literally had stopped, they probably all found that ditch with the amount of mud on the road and the wrong tyres anyhow.

He didn't he didn't get prosecuted because she fell off did he? He got prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.
Shhh don’t let the agenda change the story.

Folk saying the driver did nothing wrong but was prosecuted.
Didn’t know we had so many legal eagles here.

Meh I give up.

The guy broke the law and got penalised for it. I hope anyone else who breaks the law in a similar way also gets penalised for it.

LR wasn't going that fast, cyclist was going too slow, and wobbling a bit. She didn't need anymore room just a bit more experience / confidence. Still clipped onto the pedals and didn't get a foot clear fast enough to put a foot down. Got to blame somebody (else) though, eh?
A £1k fine seems harsh considering but if the driver was offered a course and refused it, he's as big a fool as she is! (didn't read all the pages so hope that's right about him refusing)

Video did make me laugh though! laugh

I don't think you'll get much disagreement with that one. However much of a moron the driver was, the camera panning back to show the cyclist in the ditch was certainly amusing. biggrin

The cyclists is solely to blame, unfit to ride a push bike on the road if she reacts like that in that situation. My road becomes a single lane farm road not long after my cul-de-sac, regularly pass groups of cyclists at similar speed to what he was doing, none of them have ever screeched and fell into a ditch because they don't know how their stupid racing pedals work.

I hate the way the article says "despite not touching her"

Implying that motorists can do what they want aslong as they're not literally crashing into people.
