Why don't they all p1ss off over to Monaco / St Tropez / Puerto Banus etc?
They do that too. They come to London because it's pretty much capital of the world, it's Arab-friendly and their cash allows them a very good lifestyle here when it's 50 degrees back in the Gulf. That and in the UK, people suck up to these Arabs and fawn after them incase they buy some fighter planes or football teams from us.

Dirty, drizzly, over crowded, congested, pikey infested London?
I think the Arab friendly point nails it. Everyone just wants to go where their mates are!
When I get a chance to dig a hole in my back garden and find some oil, London will NOT be where I will `summer`..
<I'll be in Saudi Arabia in my shorts, with some bikini blondes on my arm and a picture of a pint on my t-shirt with the slogan "All hail the Ale" writ large upon it - should rile the populace in a similar manner to revving a supercar outside your house at 4am>
WHY LONDON !!
Clearly anyone who says this has not been to the WEST end recently.
Weather wise it has been an amazing summer, hardly any rain, hot days and lovely balmy evenings for over 3 months. The shops in this area are better than any you will find elsewhere for variety and price. The transport links are good, the A4 is dual carriageway within a mile of Knightsbridge and 30 mins to Heathrow. The restaurants are so varied, the people cosmopolitan and friendly. Its relaxed with an energy and buzz. As for dirty, well its a city. Visitors will generally stick to this upmarket area because they feel safe, crime is low and chilled.

Going off topic a bit, but is Pistonheads obsessed with jealousy at the moment? It seems like any negative comment about someone who has money is automatically assumed to be a spiteful outburst of jealousy inspired by the Trotskyite commentator's own sense of failure.
So people calling other people jealous are actually jealous themselves? Thankyou4calling said:

Let's pretend I am a Genie (pertinent no?) and give you £10bn. Are you seriously telling me you would rather spend your summer as a billionaire in the west end of London than any other place on earth? If that is what you genuinely believe I am sorry you have such a lack of imagination.Clearly anyone who says this has not been to the WEST end recently.

Off topic by quite a bit is a story about the project I worked on when I realised just how much money wealthy Arabs have to spend. This particular guy owned a house on Wentworth Golf Course that he used a for few weeks of the year, mostly for Ascot. It was a modest house in a large plot but it had a conservatory he didn't like. He had his people introduce him to a high flying architect to ask what could be done about the conservatory. Two sets of plans were drawn up: "We can do this or we can do this!" One was a new conservatory, more in keeping with the house, for £100,000; the other was to pull the house down and build what would appear to be a Gentleman's 18th Century Country Residence but would have secure car parking, security wing, swimming pool and cinema, all discretely underground, for £12,000,000. He went for the twelve million option.
As work commenced the impact of the house in the plot soon became apparent; it took up the whole width of the plot. The owner had his chaps ask the neighbours either side if they would like to sell to ease the problem. Presumably if you have your house on Wentworth Golf Course you think you've made it and to have next door's come knocking asking if you want to sell must be a bit irritating.
My drawing work finished before the house was complete, but changes to interior design had left the engineer with little option but to increase the ground level steel beam sizes to over a metre deep to bridge the footprint of the house to cater for client and architect whims. The cost had risen to about fifteen million at that point. The building work was to an amazingly high standard and all done by Brits as far as I know.
One of the neighbours did sell. This added yet another sizeable chunk to the overall cost but it not only eased the problem of the house looking too big for the plot, it also provided a lovely established house to act as staff living accomodation.
New conservatory anyone?

My mother used to be the secretary to the assistant to the right hand man of the Personal assistant of the housekeeper (or something) at the Saudi Royal families house (Kenstead Hall)in Kenstead drive, London. They did the same thing when they needed a place for the staff, they bought the mansion behind them on the next road and doubled the size of the property. There were about a dozen full time members of staff to keep the property ready for the 1-2 weeks a years that a Saudi royal might visit the house. Every member of staff would get a cash bonus if ever the house was used, the rest of the time they could just enjoy it for themselves!
It must be nice...

Whats more its a very welcoming place for these guys (other than the Daily Mail readers and a few people on PH who appear to have some issue)
Sure the weather is crap but when you live in a country where is sunny almost everyday do you really care if it rains a bit

Let me see, I'm an Arab with all the time and money in the world, what would I do....
1) Purchase a nice big place near Adenau, with garaging plentiful enough for my string of trackcars plus landing strip for my private jet
2) Spend a reasonable proportion of my time becoming the fastest Arab at the ring. Putting those Koenigzondarons to good use. Perhaps I'd build myself a race track there as well.
3) Enter the Pikes Peak race. Get myself one of those mental hill climbing racers and become the fastest Arab to the top of the hill.
4) Sail my beautiful yacht around the nicest parts of the world, mooring as and when to catch up with friends, family and ladies in places that really know how to spend money.
5) Fly into London, crawl around in traffic jams whilst ugly people take photos of me and my car on camera phones, upset the locals driving like a knob, marvel that I haven't been rained on much.
Oh no, sorry, scratch that last one. That was your dream not mine.
