If you don't like it, please cut us loose, I would rather be poor and free, though I suspect that the poor bit would be very short lived once I stopped paying for illegal wars and nuclear weapons, and all receipts from Oil resources came to Scotland's Treasury.
I would be very happy to take the risk that you were right in your assertion!
I wonder how much of this relies on the assumption that all the North Sea Oil and Gas produced in British waters is produced in Scottish waters ?I would be very happy to take the risk that you were right in your assertion!
stopped paying for nuclear weapons? watch Faslane turn into a Ghost town and how would the Scottish Air force protect it's air space ?

i presume your comment was 'who says the RAF is owned by England' , and independent Scotland would remove itself from the Union and consequently like other commonwealth nations would be responsible for providing it;s own Armed forces , i'm fairly sure that a significant proportion of the Army based in or associated with Scotland would wish to transfer to the Scottish Army but in the case of the RN and the RAF how exactly would the newly independent nation of Scotland provide for itself ? mph1977 said:

This assumes we (Scotland) wouldn't declare neutrality. Who has Scotland got a beef with? Or vice versa, who's got a beef with Scotland?Kermit power said:
Headline grabbers as you say, but insignificant compared to the impact of Scottish MPs voting on English matters which don't affect their constituents.
I went for a trip to see the excellent Falkirk Wheel today and had a cycle along some beautifully remade canals. It's really important for these areas to have millions spent on regeneration projects for Scottish people to enjoy. We certainly need you English people to work hard to pay for it all, that's for sure! In fact I bet your actual tax money went into paying for my day today! Either that or some other stuff you don't get any benefit from but Scottish people enjoy.Keep it coming so more Scottish students can study for free, long live the union!

Sod off we dont want these lunatics in The English Premiership.
Scotland owns this problem they are stuck with them! Can you imagine after this example what one side or the other would do to Alex Ferguson if they got pasted by Man U <shudder>.
12 Month Ban for both sets of Fans from matches, would sort their mindset out imho!
Alex Ferguson's team used to regularly stuff the OF when he was manager of Aberdeen in the 80's so I don't think it would bother him that much.Scotland owns this problem they are stuck with them! IMHO both sides of the OF should be banned from the ES PEE ELL for a couple of years, but in reality that is not going to happen.
Eric had it right on page 1 when he posted.

As for Faslane being a ghost town, well maybe having nuclear weapons, and a huge target beside your largest city, isn't the smartest thing, perhaps London would be happy to have them, as we keep hearing how hard done by England is!
(and the occasional 'accidental' radiation releases might be taken more seriously by the MOD if it was nearer 'Head Office'.)
As for protecting our Air space, apparently surface to air missiles are fairly inexpensive compared with ego driven 'look how big my willy is' aircraft projects.
I will miss the Tonkas and F18's bombing our islands, but hey ho, sometimes that's progress, and it will be a bit quieter for the tourists.

The CURRENT thinking is that those who vote will choose the SNP over the London-governed Labour party to play the lead role in the Scottish Parliament. Pretty obviously the SNP aren't keen on being 'one country', so it appears to follow that the majority of voters aren't either, given how central and key separation is to SNP policy.
Many (most) people don't care (or vote). They assume some dominant force amongst the vested interests will impose whatever direction best suits their interests and that'll be that. The rest of us will just adapt as best we can to whatever silliness they impose. Nothing new there, then.
But what's this to do with someone trying to fragmentise Neil Lennon?
Personally I think he's a hopeless manager and am of the 'Lennon Must Stay' persuasion. Much better idea than shredding him and risking them getting a real or effective coach.
He seems to be doing a good job against Walter Smith!
