I have never understood why farmers just don't get a muck spreader. Spray that near the s and they'll soon move on.

They do occasionally. Not every farm has muck though.

Some salt of the earth types tried to "recycle" one of bird scarers yesterday

Pyrotechnic crow scarers (below) can be bought for not a lot. Some of these 'may' have accidentally become tangled up in some trees next to the paddock (briefly) occupied by salt of the earth types (can I propose a PH acronym for future use, SOTE?) just outside our village a few years ago. They are very simple, so are the crow scarers. Light one end of the hemp rope which smoulders away igniting a firework every 20-30 minutes.

Unfortunately the noise of these going off throughout the night (it's quite simple to splice 3-4 lenths of these together) was too much for the SOTE who moved away before sunrise.

We buy those in bulk, but the SOTE were after the gas gun. They have a car type battery and a small propane bottle and was in the middle of a 60 acre field. There is a SOTE bollard in the gateway now. No doubt it will get lifted onto a flatbed with a HIAB and weighed in. Loveable rouges, the lot of them
