Isn't accepting the things you cannot change in this context the same as giving up on the very idea of democracy?
He just means everyone else should accept the things he approves. He would not have accepted a remain vote, as he made very clear.
That is incorrect, In no way would I have liked it, but I would have adopted a "get on with it" approach had the vote gone for stay. . I worked for vote leave, the only remotely political thing I have ever done except vote but I was motivated by reasons other than family, per se. Anyhow, I still view that Niebuhr is bang on the nail , anyone constanly shrieking in this thread who does not have the vote in the US is deranged and totally wasting their (obviously plentifull) time. Yes, thats it, as somebody said, Trump derangement syndrome. Niebuhr must have come across similar in his day. Anyhow, off to do something more important than poking fun at the hysterical.
Why are you so happy for your beloved to emigrate from Brexit Britain when you were in despair at the thought of him emigrating from a Britain that stayed in the EU? I'd describe your posts at the time as hysterical.

Please take this discussion elsewhere, it's not relevant to the thread.

Why should we all ignore it just so you can mouth off? Brexit isn't relevant to this thread.

You are expanding the number of posts on it just by complaining! It's relevant to me because it demonstrates the correlation between Brexit supporters and Brits who support Trump.

Today's Twitter rant is about borders, while blaming Mexico and the Democrats of course.

Donald Trump on twitter said:
All Democrats fault for weak laws!
He's President, his party controls the house and senate, why hasn't he changed the laws?

Oh that's right, because it's just a dog whistle sound bite for his gurning supporters.

I am not sure if you are trying to come over as a pompous tt, but that's what's happening.

This is worth a 20 minute read. Wouldn’t normally be that long but you have to re-read so much of what he says!

Its just incoherent rambling isn’t it. I don’t know how anyone can bear to listen to him never mind go out of their way to attend a rally to listen to such drivel. Something isn’t right with his brain, he struggles so much with the English language.

He's back on the rallys though, good for his fundraising, good for money for trump, very good to promote his feel good factor as everyone there fawns over him.

Mike Pompeo says he told Trump the U.S. "ought to give them a few more days" to complete an investigation into Khashoggi's death

Mike Pompeo took two questions before leaving the podium. As he left, he was asked whether Jamal Khashoggi was dead or not. He did not respond.

Do you think it may have been that MP went to Turkey to suggest they may want to lose the evidence they have in return for some unspecified future benefit? May be turning a blind eye to the Turkish military when dealing with the Kurds.

Thus allowing USA continue with their support for the Saudis and reciprocal arms trade.
