If the countries he referred to as **** holes are not **** holes why do people leave them and travel to the US to live ?

His comments were probably too wide, he should have said "some African countries are **** holes".

Whilst I don't know the exact numbers I don't imagine there is a huge number of Americans emigrating to Africa at the moment... Nor huge numbers of Europeans queuing up in Southern Italy waiting to make the trip across the med.

"In 2012, the United States provided nearly $12 billion in official development assistance (“ODA”) to African nations. The ODA is allocated to education, health, infrastructure and economic development programs in recipient countries. Currently, the United States allocates foreign aid to 47 African nations and USAID operates 27 missions on the continent." taken from borgenproject.org.

I wonder how many of these countries as so disgusted at his comments they will return their aid.
It's the language he uses.

And, of course, most of the population of the USA emanate from countries that were "sh***holes" at some point in their history. Indeed, the Pilgrim Fathers left England because it was a "sh***hole" as far as they were concerned.
So we are ok if he said

"almost all African countries are having a difficult time at the moment, and we do appear to see more Africans moving here than Americans moving there"

I am pleasantly surprised how few people have tried to defend these latest ramblings.

It certainly would have sounded more reasoned and well thought out.

Often, it's not what you say but they way that you say it that counts.

I suppose, back in the 19th Century, they should have blocked the Poles, Irish, Italians, Armenians, Russian Jews, Germans etc. I mean, what have they brought to American culture?

How come you keep coming back to this so called "echo chamber"?. Your presence proves it isn't one. Other views can be expressed, no matter how obnoxious others may view them.

I can well believe it.

However, don't you think the comments regarding the Embassy are worthy of comment?

How about the stuff about "sthole" countries?

You really don't get it do you? Calling developing countries "stholes" is not the sort of language that the head of state of a major power should be using. It is even worse in that he is using it to denigrate the "huddling masses" coming to the USA as bidden by the Statue of Liberty.

Does the USA's giving aid entitle Trump to be vulgar and offensive? Of course it does not.

It is however, the best slow motion car crash I've seen to date.

If only there was no power that this complete idiot had, it would be perfect viewing.

Sadly... he has all the power in the world, and it is pretty much a nightmare to watch.

So at do you think of Trump's calling African nations "stholes" then?

(I won't hold my breath waiting for an opinion)

I think we probably need to remember that lots of people will be giving it a bit of a fist pump when they hear this st and feel that they finally have a president that is on their wavelength.
To many "winding up lefties" is a valid task for a politician.

Plus the racists will see it as a personal vindication after years of "PC gone mad"

I thought, from a British perspective, our Foreign Secretary's response was shameful.

Doesn't bother me at all,and I very much doubt that beyond the usual mortally offended brigade anyone else gives a toss either.

I would say that it's pretty news and comment worthy that the POTUS is either lying directly to the world or is so poorly informed. Worthy of comment and derision.

He's a laughing stock, and it's noticeable that people aren't really prepared to defend him this time.

Most of your comments are based on having a go at posters rather than discussing the issues.

That does get a bit tedious.

Loads of things aren't racist - literally loads. The evidence suggests that The Donald isn't one of them

He actually said he wanted more immigration from a country like Norway. Why would Norwegians want to move to a sthole country that has a moron as president?

He's a laughing stock.

When even republicans think he's racist..

Former RNC chairman Michael Steele chimes in.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Live with Hallie Jackson,” Steele was asked if he thinks Trump is a racist.

“Yeah, I do,” Steele said. “At this point … the evidence is incontrovertible.”

‘Orange ‘ ‘moron’ ‘echo chamber’ ‘small hands’
Guess who’s back in town.
Honestly FCR it’s becoming boring, it seems to be all you’ve got to say.
If you can’t/won’t debate it why bother even coming here?
You just churn out the same rubbish time after time after time. Ad nauseam.

Awaits incoming..........
