Poo-tin's going to have to task the SVR to figure out the combat effectiveness of John Deere tractors!

Why is there a dildo on the floor behind him? Someone been busy with photoshop?

"And while everyone focuses on Kyiv and the idea that the Russians are planning to storm the city block by block (which seems highly unlikely when they can just shell it to pieces from the outside), a lot of people have been missing the real danger in the east and south."

Nope, dont think anyone's missing anything, the whole world is watching in high definition as they try to kill another country.

There are no more surprises, we have been threatened with Armageddon and responded as best we can given that threat. Its isnt strategy, its just grinding away with weight of numbers.

I suspect the will take The Ukraine, but, like a stolen famous painting here is fk all they can do with it really, its an utterly pointless exercise that has turned them from making us feel a bit uneasy on and off to now, world pariah number one.

The important bit is:
Beijing is in talks with its state-owned firms, including China National Petroleum Corp., China Petrochemical Corp., Aluminum Corp. of China and China Minmetals Corp., on any opportunities for potential investments in Russian companies or assets, the people said. Any deal would be to bolster China’s imports as it intensifies its focus on energy and food security -- not as a show of support for Russia’s invasion in Ukraine -- the people said.

China has been playing the long game for years geo-politically, while we've been bickering.

It will come back to bite us in the arse, maybe Russia will become their lapdog?

That is a very good point.

As with other such "special military interventions", though, ordinary people are being maimed, killed, made homeless/poor as a result.

It is horrific and appalling that seemingly one man has been able prevent his associates from stopping him starting a bizarre crusade to "liberate" people that do not want to be "liberated" -especially not by a 21st century fascist who is pretending to be fighting against fantasy nazis- whilst trying to "Make Russia Great Again".

Most of us cannot do anything about it, so we need to be getting on with our lives if we can.

The Last Chinese Wall.
A Russian bear with a saber stands in front of Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Austria-Hungary, Great Britain, the United States, Turkey and Spain, all holding rifles with bayonets, behind them sits a laughing China (April 24, 1901)

I wonder if China see an opportunity to use this for getting up nearer the Arctic Circle ( I don't know where the Russian O&G sites are ). For instance, they've tried and failed to buy a harbour in one of Scandinavian nations. China want to be recognised as an Arctic Nation.

This was probably as much of a moment as the Cuban missile crisis.

Seems to have been strangely overlooked for some reason.
