Labour MP has just resigned and gone independent stating the reason why as she cannot possibly accept a situation whereby Corbyn becomes PM.
Wowzers
nothing on the Beeb website? Yet...
Plenty on twitter, including her own statement.

Who? Surely they would have a better chance if they did this after an election. They’ll just be deselected now and I’d say very few mps are well known / liked enough to stand against the big parties. Very few independents in HOC
Louise Ellman - a Labour supporter for 55 years.
Thanks, I don't look at Twitter much

Harsh words "this issue is no longer about the Labour Party - it is about the threat a Jeremy Corbyn premiership !could pose to the country."

Nothing more than many of us have been thinking but great that a long standing Labour party member has said it.

I can’t help but be caught in two minds about applauding a magnificent career of public service. 1970 to date and also thinking, maybe we would be well served by having people in politics with more recent experience of life outside of politics.

Oh and looking at some of the vile responses to that tweet, I would say she is doing the right thing.

I respect these sort of decisons when they are driven by a belief in a universal truth i.e. Anti Semitisim is bad etc, Less respect for MPs who walk out because the party line does not agree with there own views on europe post the referendum result...you Ken Clarke.

But Back on topic if there is this anti semetic bile all through labour can we not see it in the main stream news an shame them for what they are. Currently while I suspect its true there is no damming front page evidence

Problem is when all the people that walk away, St JC will have the post filled with someone singing from the same hymn sheet. He will laud gracious platitudes all over the situation.

Not that I would like to be in the shoes of the politicos that walk away. Must be one hell of a job in this atmosphere at the moment.

It’s there alright. If you can hear a dog whistle. Or if you believe showing support for incredibly antisemitic artists and terror groups demonstrates alignment with their causes, or if you read the resignation letters of previously dedicated MPs like Berger who was hounded out by racists, or if you look at the social media accounts of people affiliated with the Labour Party, like councillors and even NEC board members who follow those or even directly share conspiracy theories and deny the holocaust, or if you look at pictures of the 2018 Labour conference where the delegates debate Palestinian solidarity rather than BreXit when it is a remote and irrelevant conflict out of many other conflicts of greater concern that were ignored like Syria. What do you want, Corbyn to come out and say that he is a Marxist and therefore Jews represent a class enemy as they disprove the theory that ethnic minorities are suppressed by capitalism? There have been plenty of headline stories on the subject anyway.

there are a lot of other things that have been suggested in the past about Ms Ellman.
Her time at Lancashire Social Services was not remembered by some as being a good period

Maybe try harder & live in a better area then
True, retiring at 46 a few years ago and living in a nice village in one of the nations national parks is a bit st.

Life's been a disaster.

Sorry, I'll try harder to ignore stuff when I have to mix with the oiks.

And you can go fk yourself.

It can't be that nice if you keep coming into contact with dole scroungers and in your words their '(unt' children, what a delightful specimen you are!
I can't imagine from that kind of comment, that you're any more pleasant to live near TBH.
Rather a chav thand his noisy car / dog than someone who calls children '(unts' and uses the word 'oiks'
