I’ve picked up on a lot of negativity towards the Irish pm on here can anyone give me a basic few bullet points on why please?
From an economic and social point of view, Ireland is much closer, and more dependent on the UK than the EU, and obviously there are the tensions with NI constantly there. So I think it upsets people when Varadkar takes the EU line apparently to the detriment of local issues.

Just tried ordering the touch in paint off Amazon. They’re quoting 10 days delivery to Spain! It’s like a developing country here and we shouldn’t be part of it And if the EU had done what they were supposed to do and protected consumers then I wouldn’t have been offered the option of not bothering with the collision damage waiver and could have scratched the car impunity and without having to touch it in afterwards
Not so clever now?

Do you think BoJo is helping the situation?

In trying to actually deliver Brexit I don't think he's taking the ERG line so much as being boxed into a corner. But yes, compared to May's limbo land solution and Corbyn's fence sitting, he's sadly one of the better options. Do you think BoJo is helping the situation?
I'd love to know who you think is actually helping the situation?

Pretty much.I find it odd though that LV feels the need to sound of every now and then about Brexit. It's not his decision. His comments won't make any difference to the outcome. And ironically it doesn't help the people of Ireland in any way. Surely he should be pointing out what Ireland will do if the UK goes down (or up)
It just sounds like he's playing to his base support. And I don't mean the voters in Ireland...

He is like the wimp who sucks up to the school bullies , he thinks he is a big man now and the EU will gloss over Irish corporate tax rates if he sings the right tune ....
History has shown the EU back smaller countries when it suits them, then forget/drop them after the need has expired. This is also the country that has massive debts to the ECB of course. To the tune of 200 BILLION Euros! jakesmith said:

And it’s 35 degrees here so hardly any snowflakes I’m afraid to say - the clue is in ‘Mallorca’ - geography not your strongest subject eh? Lol
Besmirch Boris as you will, (Priti Patel would have been my choice) I actually do believe he will stand up to the EU and will leave if the they continue to take the same stance - 'Non'
The consequences of not leaving on 31st October will be too great a political catastrophe for any Party member that opposes it, from both Cons & Lab
So Varadkar and the (trusted) new EU commission can sort the border between them.
Interesting times![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

You will be glad to hear, the primary campaign policies are regarding parking space sizes, touch-up paint delivery times, taking control of our fishing waters, pizza quality/ delivery times and international trade (at the moment selling cream teas to Brazil is more or less impossible!). We intend to go WTO with the UK, open our borders to the whole world whilst restricting UK citizens from entering and perhaps sending some back (just the bad ones though). We are doubtful about people from Freshwater though - they do not tend to follow the standards set by Newport - so they are looking for their own independence from Newport. I think they are small minded.
I think you would love it here once we get rid of the UK politicians - I didn't even vote for most of them. House of Lords - really? The Supreme Court is not democratic. Why do I have to follow their jurisdiction? Pathetic.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Nothing all day?
Guess some schools have broken early and the usual angremainer posters have gone off with mommy and daddy to enjoy one last trouble free break to Tuscany before the world ends, the borders close, planes drop out of the sky, everyone looses their jobs and we end up living in ditches bartering blue passports for unicorn cake............

He's not for Brexit so these lot hate him.I would expect ANY Irish PM to be against Brexit .. but Leo is an ineffective fool .. not just in international matters but also in domestic issues
He’s a PM the Irish didn’t vote for .. much like May and either Bojo/Hunt will be
There are/have been a number of scandals and spending issues where he had failed to deal effectively or control
Millions of Euros for an airport in a ministers constituency that has no flights
The National children’s hospital which is not fit for purpose . In the wrong place and massively overspent
Plus many many others..
his comments re nurses and doctors where he clearly either doesn’t think about or is too thick to understand the impact of his words .. but he did write a letter to Kylie !
He is not dealing with the major issues facing Ireland but champions minority issues
His govt is seen as elitist and very very Dublin centric
His vision of Ireland 2040 has gone down like the Titanic
Finally re Brexit ... his globalist pro EU stance has not been in Ireland’s best interests
Leo the Lad is playing to his domestic audience. His cobbled together coalition with Independents depend on being propped up by an opposition party and is nearing the end of its use-by date. Leo's getting ready for a GE, one that he may not be in control of calling if he persists in insulting the leader of the party that's propping up his Govt!
He knows he's got little support outside his urban/SE powerbase because of the way his Govt has neglected the rural constituencies in favour of Dublin, so he's doing a bit of Bash the Brit which always goes down well out in the countryside. Otherwise, his comments are meaningless.

This article caught my attention this morning:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/bor...
It neatly sums up the massive risk that Johnson will be taking if he pursues no-deal. Particularly if he attempts to do so by interfering with our democratically elected parliament.
The report is here:
https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/in/pages/197...
Whilst it has clearly been authored by a partisan group, its factual in nature and in neatly illustrates why our choices moving forward have reduced.
So lets talk about democracy and sovereignty. A second referendum is clearly democratic by its nature. It would be a chance for us to confirm our position now that the options have diminished to a two way race between no-deal and remain.
In contrast, no-deal is profoundly undemocratic:
1. The leave campaign promised in writing that it would not happen
2. Leave campaigners said repeatedly during the referendum build up that a deal would be straightforward
3. To make it happen Johnson would need to circumvent Parliament. Threatening the foundations of our constitution and democracy and riding roughshod over Parliamentary sovereignty. The very thing that Brexiteers said they were fighting for.
It is hypocrisy of the highest order.
