Mitch McConnell is trying to walk away from trump: on the Senate floor: "The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people."

Mitch McConnell: "We certified the people's choice for their 46th president. Tomorrow, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn in."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is explicitly pointing his finger at President Donald Trump for helping to spur the attack on the Capitol by the outgoing president’s supporters.

The Kentucky Republican said Tuesday on the Senate floor, “The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people.”

McConnell spoke six days after the Democratic-led House impeached Trump on charges of inciting the Jan. 6 attack. A Senate trial on whether to convict Trump and perhaps bar him from ever again holding federal office is expected to begin in coming days.

Too little too late I think.

What McConnell up to distancing from trump now. It can only be about the money.

House and Senate Republicans who refused to certify the Electoral College results are being cut off by corporate PAC donors, donors are walking away day after day - or that could just be as they move their lobbying and donations to those in power. Either way it cuts the money, in an industry that relies on huge sums.

McConnell is condemning “other powerful people” who incited the attack and so is trying to rediscover his influence, perhaps by looking to get rid of the rogue Republican Senators like Cruz and Hawley who are being blamed for the coup attempt.
They're a liability to McConnell if they stop the GOP and him getting in donor money, so are easily expendable.

We should stop posting on this thread. Lock it and flush it. Like that turd.

Don’t let it roll over.
He's going to be shooting himself in both Feet for years yet so there's going to be a Trump thread. The only question is, what to call it?

Personally, I think something along the lines of

- "Disgraced former U.S. President Donald Trump."

or

- "Donald Trump 20/01/21 & beyond"
- "Donald Trump. Trials & tantrums"
or simply,
- "Donald Trump"

No reference whatsoever!! to the word "President".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - who was it who said this was his Ratner moment - they were so right

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell says retailers including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Kohl’s, H-E-B and Wayfair are dropping his company’s products because of his continued belief in conspiracy theories surrounding President Trump’s election results, namely, that there was widespread voter fraud.

Lindell made the announcement with the conservative Right Side Broadcasting Network, shared to Twitter on Saturday. The news was first reported by CBS Minnesota.

“I just got off the phone with Bed Bath & Beyond,” Lindell said during the interview. “They’re dropping MyPillow.”

“Just got off the phone — not five minutes ago. Kohl’s, all these different places. ... These guys don’t understand,” he went on. “They’re scared. Like a Bed Bath & Beyond, they’re scared. They were good partners. In fact, I told them, ‘You guys come back anytime you want.’”

I think Kinky or Byker should have the honour of naming the new thread, on the understanding that President or POTUS cannot be used.

McConnell is just trying to protect the party. If they go along the right wing nutter route he knows it will cause a break up.

As it is they have desecrated what he sees as sacred ground with the invasion. The fal out is going to cause economic pain for the party and they are a minority in congress. They're going to get pressure from Republican state authorities and can't do anything about it.

If he hasn't already, I should imagine Hawley is going to get a bloody good slap, Cruz too probably.

Lets not assume he's doing the "right thing" because its the right thing, , smile

No sign of pardons yet then ?

The third clause is rather interesting.

I wonder what the plaintiffs got up to in the Capitol?

Not even worse Potus ever, which he undeniably was
Most citizen deaths, left the country with the biggest deficit ever without there having been the war, increased civilian deaths by US forces by 330%, most criminals executed, 13 this year. Prior to Trump, the federal government had executed only three people since 1963.
The decimation of the US Postal service, Public service departments, a hugely fractured country.

Disbarment for vexatious litigation should follow for the shysters who drafted that typo ridden and shoddy collection of BS.

It takes a certain type of person that knowing he was about to leave office, chose to sanction the execution of as many people as he could. Not withstanding their crimes, there is a certain evil in this act.
