A gun-toting group of civilians, policemen and soldiers in Libya has been preventing migrants from embarking across the Mediterranean to Italy, Reuters reports. It is believed to have caused the sudden fall in departures from Libya in July.
Three NGOs have suspended migrant rescues in the Mediterranean because of the increasingly hostile stance of the Libyan authorities and coastguard. Save the Children and Germany’s Sea Eye have joined Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) in halting operations because they feel their crews can no longer work safely in what Sea Eye called a “changed security situation in the western Mediterranean”.

So there was a solution after all to the "insoluble" problem of illegal migration.
Buy off the relevant Libyan authorities and get them to shut down the NGO "Taxi" service.

Maybe there is another way than importing people until an entire continent turns into a sthole like the one they are leaving.
