It's the equivalent of canceling a Holyrood election because Aberdeenshire schools had an in service day.
A one-off day is one thing, a week into a long summer holiday where many people will be expected to be away from home is another. There's no way they would have scheduled it for the 1st August. Not saying the SNP's media reaction to it is proportionate though.

Mr Flynn said: "Speculation is rife, so I think the public deserve a clear answer to a simple question - Does the Prime Minister intend to call a summer general election? Or is he feart?"
Yet this cretrin think's he is the MVP and gets press time: "Mr Swinney, who became leader of the SNP earlier this month, said the Conservative government had done "enormous damage" to Scotland." Health, Education, SNP finances, circularity, FERRIES! Etc The SNP doesn't need anyone to damage Scotland as they are doing it themselves.

Gaelic units and schools don't exist in the Central Belt to teach Gaelic. They exist because pushy middle class parents see them as just another way to side step catchment areas and get their kids into high performing schools of their choice (since the kids they're worried about mixing with won't be applying for Gaelic education).

That is IMO going to be the big kicker for them. The General Election is a free hit against the SNP for all the soft Yessers and the hardened ALBA-types. The SNP 1 Green 2 Holyrood election types (aka ZedLeg) will also still be sore at the bad-faith dropping of the Bute House agreement.
This election isn't coming at the best time for the Conservatives, but it is absolutely coming at the worst time for the SNP.
Speedbump Swinney strikes again.
Not an expert at Scottish Politics but was it Swinney I saw frothing at the mouth earlier, because the tories 'disrespected Scotland and the SNP', by calling the election? This election isn't coming at the best time for the Conservatives, but it is absolutely coming at the worst time for the SNP.

Its shocking having an election during the scottish school holidays.
The janitors will need to open the school hall (polling place) when they should be on holiday.
The poor mans only been in his job a month. Hows he going to know how to run an election campaign.

The man is an utter ballbag. The only good thing i can associate with him is he helped inspire my younger sister to do her PhD due to his incompetence when he was in charge of education. She came away from a meeting with him wondering how someone so clueless could be in the position he was.
I’m intrigued, what was the title of the thesis? “Correlations between ineptitude and attainment of high office amongst Scottish politicians” ?irc said:

I've contacted an artisan producer of popcorn for a bulk order. Good to support local businesses.
Which made me think what is in the complete UK election night kit Step 1. Book the following day off as holiday and thereafter every year celebrate the election date as Independence (from the SNP) day.
Whisky for a small dram for every SNP loss.
Popcorn.
Paracetamol for the almost certain hangover.
Ensure lounge carpet is freshly hoovered to keep clothes clean whilst rolling about the floor laughing.

I was hoping a while ago that Labour might take 10 seats north of the border at the GE. What do we think now - 20 or maybe even 30?
I would say definitely 20 and i am hoping for 30. Sadly i am old enough to remember the last Labour regime up here , between that and the lack of quality in senior members today (every party is in the same boat on this front) i can't vote for them this time around.ScotHill said:

Any celebrations of the demise of the SNP ought to involve Arran whisky.
Noted.Plus a regular Arran 10 year.
A talisker Skye.
The hearach.
May get a Rassay again, that was a lovely one.
This could get messy

I’ll need to break the habit of a lifetime and vote Labour to get rid of the snp for my area.

She has my utmost sympathy having to spend time in his presence in a professional capacity.I was in several meetings with him present back in 2016 when the SQA were setting the scene for their forthcoming disasters and I came to the conclusion then that his entire modus operandi was to say whatever he had been told to say in the most bland and disarming manner. I could see even then that he was just a puppet. The SQA had fed him a pile of complete falsehoods and he just parroted them in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary from everyone else in the room, except the shortly-after-to-be-dismissed director of the SQA.
The impression I came away with was that the SNP government were just freewheeling (something I have since referenced many times in here) and day-to-day policy held absolutely no interest for them, hence we are now in the situation that a decade of neglect and lack of interest in accountability eventually leads to.
