£18, what planet are they on? £3 is more realistic.
I couldn't care less what cinema chains think, the auditorium is full of people taking phone calls, crunching sweets, coughing, laughing inappropriately, children running around, people getting up to use the toilet, people getting bored and talking, people asking "what's happening", laser pointers on the screen, smoking, sticky carpets, expensive food and drink.
Cinemas are st.
Actually, it is people who are st. The solution is to go to a cinema in an area where the local humans walk upright.I couldn't care less what cinema chains think, the auditorium is full of people taking phone calls, crunching sweets, coughing, laughing inappropriately, children running around, people getting up to use the toilet, people getting bored and talking, people asking "what's happening", laser pointers on the screen, smoking, sticky carpets, expensive food and drink.

I've been thinking about how good the Cinema really is nowadays and the actual quality of the movies doesn't impress me at all anymore, I know the projection is seriously high def but a blu ray DVD looks incredible on Plasma/LED HD TV's.
The cost of that download is unreal, especially if you have no mates, like myself ;-)

I go the cinema often, (5 ir 6 times a month)
and In the past 3 years had one bad experience, but said person was marched out by the staff
Films are made for cinema, It's the way they are meant to be seen!

The trouble is it's now almost impossible to find a cinema in a nice area. The small local ones have all been closed down and replaced by multi-screen complexes invariably positioned in or near congested areas of high population density. The cinemas desire to catch as many people as possible means the dregs get in too. Flintstone said:

True. Multiplexes do tend to bring out genocidal thoughts in the most sane human. A lot of old flea pits have been turned into very nice low density operations that tend to price the chimps out.

Sadly though, not many of those left. I can't think of any near me.Interestingly I once met a guy at a rolling road session where some of us were having our cars recorded for video game soundtracks. One of the technicians owned a 'flea pit' (I'm sure it was nicer than that) which sounded fantastic. Not sure they made much money but if I could find one near me I'd patronise it.

There are some lovely places - i'd recommend this to anyone:Interestingly I once met a guy at a rolling road session where some of us were having our cars recorded for video game soundtracks. but thats the exception rather than the rule.
Going to the cinema 10-12 years ago used to be a pleasant experience, have we become more intolerant as a society or has the behaviour of certain sections of society deteriorated in that period? A bit of both probably.
I hate going to the cinema now, it annoys me when people are still coming in when the film has already started and I might end up getting sent down for 15+ years at some point due to the scum kicking the back of my chair.
I wouldn't mind paying £18 to 'make a night of it' once a month or so. At least sitting at home I can relax in my boxer shorts, and pause the film to get another beer or go for a pee.
However, will we all end up getting takeaway food delivered instead of visiting restaurants, getting the weekly food shopping delivered from Tesco, work from home, buying furniture, paint, electrical goods etc all online and getting them delivered - i.e. never leaving the house!

Probably a result of the deterioration of society that people don't want to go out into it as much. Normal people are ok, it's the minority we are trying to avoid that ruin the experience a lot of the time imo.
Those people that ruin it seem to be the ones that our society wants to protect though, through their choice of government (ie, Labour generation/breeding of feckless people, greedy people etc)

£18? bargain. Not for a film I want to see but after sitting through some bilge the other day with my four year old at a total cost of considerably more than that (including the obligatory popcorn, and don't get me started on the "do you need 3D glasses with that?....ker-ching!) I'd pay it. He doesn't give a toss whether we're in the living room or the multiplex as long as he sees the film, we can pause it as necessary and we don't have to climb over people for regular toilet trips.
