Are men afraid of transgender women?

Don't really see that it's a big deal, to be honest. If a system needs to know your biological sex, it should ask, not infer it from your courtesy title, and if it doesn't need to know, it doesn't matter.
I agree, really. We don't really question it when a woman prefers to be Ms and no disclose her marital status, so why should a transgender person be treated any differently when they want to hide their gender? Terminator X said:

TX.
Where did you get this from? Hell is about right: I'm not religious (i.e. superstitious) but sadly I think this where humans end up going without religion. They find some absolute tosh to believe in instead, and it's probably far worse.TX.

I think you are right about 'our' direction.
Bloody post modernist / constructionist theory that claims everything is a social construct. It's just an ideology for the neo-Marxists to hide behind.
In general, people want a simple set of 'rules' to tell them how to behave, and how to identify 'good' from 'evil'.
Religion once provided the foundation for that.
With the 'loss' of religious determinism, we now have the secular relativism. The argument that "your values/morals are no better than mine" basically, because it is all a social construct.
Unfortunately, the average person is too lazy or isn't smart enough, to think about these fundamentals for themselves; how to behave, what is good and evil; so they adopt an ideology that seems to generally fit how they think they feel about things - you could make a similar argument to more or less for the choice to be religious - and then they pretty much blindly follow it.
One should be able to sympathise with how this happens, after all, it is quite traumatic when you realise that news papers are not telling the truth, some of the stories may even be complete fabrications, that politicians lie, that even the BBC may no longer neutral and factual in it's reporting as we once may have believed!

Which is all well and good except for how it's complete nonsense.TX.
a) Nobody at pre-puberty age gets any physiological (medical/drugs) treatment whatsover.
b) Only a very small number of teenagers entering the 'wrong' puberty and in acute distress as a result are given medication to 'pause' that puberty - more commonly those drugs are used in precocious puberty for non-trans kids - and those drugs have no active effect, only passively suspend puberty. Stop them and everything resumes as if it had never been interrupted.
c) Only once you're 16 do you even get assessed for the drugs that actually do anything. This assessment process generally takes about a year, and sometimes a hell of a lot longer.
The Tavistock Clinic, who are the only bit of the NHS in England (possibly in the UK, not sure) providing care to trans children, are, not inappropriately, pretty leery about encouraging social transition in kids, and even more so in very little kids. The numbers transitioning at primary school age are absolutely tiny. They pretty much never recommend it for five-year-olds; very occasionally some tiny little tot shows up and is so certain of themselves that everyone agrees it's worth a go, or, more often, that it's NOT worth trying to stop them when they are essentially already there.

I do hope those "tots" are free at a later date to sue everyone involved.grumbledoak said:

The new “Bump Caps” – essentially baseball caps with a reinforced internal frame – began being introduced yesterday and will completely replace the more traditional custodian and bowler hats by June 9.
It is the third force to adopt the new headgear following successful launches in Cheshire and Lancashire.

I'm a lot less troubled by others living their lives free from "morality" dictated by priests with bronze age myths than I would be by God-botherers interfering in mine.
Are you ok with having your morality dictated by politicians?Do I want laws restricting my freedom based on the personal morality of politicians? No, not really, but in a democracy we at least retain the option to get rid of them if their laws are unpopular. They don't claim any authority beyond their democratic mandate.
