45th President Of The United States, Donald Trump (Vol. 14)
Discussion
trumps NY rally in the Bronx NY only attracted about 3500 people, and the rally had a tiny max capacity of 2300 so maybe around a thousand of those were outside waiting to get in, allowed in as many started leaving during trumps speech.
Again people spotted in the crowd behind trump those paid to attend trumps rallys
One comment
"Max capacity limit is 2,300. And trump still pays for people to attend his rallies on Craigslist."

Remember his claim he'd hold his rally in Maddison Square Gardens and fill it

NY Congressman Ritchie Torres
donald trump is right now holding a rally in my district.
His presidency was a catastrophe for the Bronx. His mismanagement of COVID resulted in more deaths than Pearl Harbor and 9/11 combined. He should apologize to the people of the Bronx rather than hold a rally.

CBS news are reporting that migrant crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border have plunged 54% from record highs,

Time for GOP claims if an immigrant caravan and crisis?

A person in the crowd passed out and is getting medical attention, so trump takes out a bottle of water and then drinks it himself.

Thoughts and prayers
Not sure his usual stuff goes down well in the bronx, it's designed for his white maga supporters
Usual racist stuff from trump

And it’s this that I just don’t understand. Trump and co have all said what they’re going to do, and none of it is related to actually governing or making coherent policy, so what does the Trump Voter actually think they’re getting? Is it really just the fact that he’s Not The Other Guy??
I know all the acolytes and other hangers on are in it for the money but do all the ordinary Americans who will vote for him really not care about either who he is, what he’s done, or that he doesn’t give a monkeys about anyone else but himself?
Clearly the answer is,”No” but then, why?
Presumably because they're right wing nutters who believe all the culture wars type bks and can sort of see that the people behind Trump have the same views as themselves.I know all the acolytes and other hangers on are in it for the money but do all the ordinary Americans who will vote for him really not care about either who he is, what he’s done, or that he doesn’t give a monkeys about anyone else but himself?

Plus there's the 'American Dream' stuff where they see that even though they have a rubbish job its entirely possible that they'll be a successful billionaire at some random point in the future, even though the 'successful billionaire' in front of them (and some of those behind him) started out with significant wealth in the first place. They appear to choose to not see that.
We just had visitors over from the States, highly educated, affable West Coasters. We didn't get into specifics on Biden / Trump, as, like religion, somethings are best left., We did have several conversations, and the take away points were:
What I took away, was that decent people are just exhausted with how politics is played out, and desperately want something to break the status quo, be it left or right. This is warning for us, as we seem to be slipping ever deeper into tribalism, patronage and kleptocracy.
- They don't trust the media, any media. The preferred option is You Tube and Podcasts, esp Joe Rogan. Printed media is seen as left wing and nobody really reads it anyway.
- They were stunned that we had "impartial" news media, OFCOM and that Fox News fails our legislative requirements (as do RT and News TV)
- Still stunned that our judiciary is appointed on merit, wholly independent of politics
- The homeless problem is atrocious. It's reached a point where local politicians just move them on / bus them out. Many are veterans. Nobody seems to give a st and there is no thought of preventative programmes or programmes to deal with the issue at its core, just move 'em on, move 'em on.
- There is little if any confidence in politicians - the view is they are out for money and power and the idea of bipartisanship died sometime in the mid 90's
- The system is so broken, and so many people have so little confidence in it, that it is leaving the door open for the populists, who gather up the protest vote. Then there are the voters who just stand to make money and fk the rest of the country.
What I took away, was that decent people are just exhausted with how politics is played out, and desperately want something to break the status quo, be it left or right. This is warning for us, as we seem to be slipping ever deeper into tribalism, patronage and kleptocracy.

100% agree with that prognosis for the UK. The US model of 'see what you can get away with and if anybody queries it just ignore them' is being happily embraced here by those in authority. - They don't trust the media, any media. It should be taken as a warning for us, but i don't think it will be until it is too late. - They don't trust the media, any media. The preferred option is You Tube and Podcasts, esp Joe Rogan. Printed media is seen as left wing and nobody really reads it anyway.

Boris was the prime example and an indicator of how far down that road we are already. I know plenty will disagree on here but for me he was the least fit person to have leading the country by a long way.wc98 said:

It’s Trump first, last and every point in between.

It suggests you thought he was OK in the first place based on some Logic, which is just bizarre to me; he has never been the choice of the rational, just the choice of the "fk it, he's entertaining" plebiscite.

Only bit of slight respect I had for Boris was during the covid crisis. It was obvious nothing was planned, information was changing daily or more but at least he stepped up and did a briefing every night, trying his best in a bad situation and at least listened to advisors.
trump however, ignored all advice, thought he knew better, plus tried to bury any bad news, whilst withholding or threatening to withhold aid to Dem states several times, unless they praised him.
Quid pro quo everytime with trump
