As an experiment let’s grow a community and its resources from nothing. (ie SIMS for PH). This potentially has a direct link to modern society.

10 people crash into a small uninhabited island. Let’s say the people are made up of 50/50 male and females:

1 x Teacher
1 x Bank Manager
1 x Nurse
1 x Politician
1 x Council Office Worker
1 x Company Director (PB)
1 x Carpenter
1 x Religious Preacher
1 x Soldier
1 x Engineer

Who survives and prospers and who does not?

I don't know if there's enough info there to go on really, at least to assess the concept of someone 'prospering'.

In terms of usefulness, then clearly the carpenter, engineer, soldier and nurse are very 'useful', but you don't know what skills the others may have.

If you put me in that list, I'd look utterly useless (media worker), but I'm an ex RN officer, so my leadership qualities are pretty good, and given the materials, and someone like the carpenter to put them together, I could sail and navigate a hand-built boat to safety.

Depends how big a crash it was.

I'd say most of them would end up with serious injuries if they weren't killed on impact, assuming it was a plane crash.

In which case it would depend on how severe the injuries were. I imagine the nurse could help patch up some of the minor injuries, but given they'd probably have a lack medicine too I'd say infection would become a problem. Of course, if the nurse was one of the unfortunate (or fortunate depending on how you look at it) ones who died on impact...in which case I imagine the others would only know basic first aid.

You say it's an uninhabited island....does that mean its devoid of any wildlife too? These islands could have spiders or snakes on it which would make survival a bit more tricky.

Then again, the snakes could have been on the plane, and that was the reason for the crash.

I dunno...too many variables...my head hurts!!!

You're gonna have to assign a sex to each of the "survivors" because if the soldier is female I can see at some point in the first month a bit of a carnage.

Do any of them suffer ashma and have glasses? Oh the engineer? that's the human race fked then

As long as at least one of them has watched "Bush Tucker Man", they'd have a good chance... Food and light (burning nuts, for example - put them on a length of stiff wire from the crashed plane and start them burning in the fire then hang from tree branches) are useful, as well as knowing where to look for water. Doesn't matter who saw the program, as it can be taught to the others to do their bit.

1 x Teacher would bore an then test you on the information

1 x Bank Manager would only give you the information if you could gurantee his investment in you was rewarded - with interest

1 x Nurse would give you the information - no contest he/she is the most likeable human here, although they would moan at length and gossip about how hard the information is to retain.

1 x Politician - obvious comment is obvious - kill this ahole.

1 x Council Office Worker would sit on the information for weeks before realising it's import and then shred it so as to avoid any blame under health and safety regulation

1 x Company Director (PB) would throw a can of red bull and make you his bh

1 x Carpenter is probably busy shagging the nurse.

1 x Religious Preacher would tell you the information is god given confuse the story totally and end up giving you some half cocked incorrect information that leads to dispute and argument

1 x Soldier would repeat the information, only once, you're on your own from there on.

1 x Engineer as suggested in my post above, he's already been bullied to death for being a asthmatic know it all.

obviously i want the nurse, carpenter, soldier and engineer in my gang but unless hot and female, the teacher, bank manager, politician, council worker, company director and preacher should just be happy if they don't get eaten smile

The best one would be the Admirable Crichton.

You cannot judge anyone by their job alone.

Apart from telephone sanitisers.

But its not, it has a direct reflection on the real world we live in, consensus so far is that we should kill or eat the very people that are in charge of our country today, what does that tell you about the rest of us, that we are stupid enough to let it continue!
