Hop Farm goes into liquidation
Discussion
Victims of the recession, but their biggest booking vacated after 20 years. Shame, but a military show known for noisy re-enactments being banned by the council from making too much noise is never going to stay put.

They appear to have moved of their own free will rather than any action by the Council.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-20658047

Tough luck losers.
I went to the Hop Farm Festival a couple of years back and vowed never to go there again.
Beltring Military Fair was really the only reason to ever visit. The attraction itself was a bit pants, to be honest.I went to the Hop Farm Festival a couple of years back and vowed never to go there again.
I grew up near it (so went loads as a kid), and my parents still live quite close to it.
I believe Vince Power's festival company, which was responsible for the Hop Farm Festival, went into administration last year and still owed the Hop Farm a very substantial sum, although was still claiming to be running it in 2013. It was staggering how incompetently it was run though, I went a couple of times, my parents more, and so many basic things they got wrong. I think it only survived as long as it did by having enough variety of big headliners (like Dylan) to bring in people who'd come from much further afield.
Apparently the War & Peace show was courted away by a very cheap deal with a desperate Folkestone Racecourse, which doesn't even do horse racing any more.

I used to be part of the southern model air show that was held there every year in september, gutted to hear this news. Had some great times there! but as mentioned before, it is a sign of the times.
I used to run a childrens quad bike attraction at that show and many others at the Hop Farm back in 2005/2006. Was a good earner for me as the summer shows held there were always well attended. Oddly the one show I couldn`t get was the War & Peace, apparently quad bikes weren`t "relevant to the theme" or some such nonsense. Sad to hear it`s shutting up shop.

Bruce Forsyth headlining? Serves 'em right!
Why are people on here taking delight in the misfortune of others? Whatever you may think of the attraction, its prices or the entertainment it books, people are losing their livelihoods; families are going to suffer. Be sure to let us know when you suffer something similar to the people at the Hop Farm and we can find out what is so great about schadenfreude.
I think it's people like you for whom the term "Losers" is a better fit.

Previous owners sold out at the right time then.
Yes they did, and enjoying Perth off the profits of the sale. Now heading back to the UK so may buy the Hop Farm back and turn it around again (they were a savvy couple).
Has Fiona kept her tank over here, or did she sell it when they moved?
