Cyclist knocks over child ON THE PAVEMENT...

I see cyclists riding on the pavement and through red lights almost everyday, and this isn't in London.
I'm a cyclist and I think they are idiots. I regularly see them on pavements when walking with my daughter in her pram. I don't like to give them any room as they should fk off onto the road. However, on the flip side, I'm seeing a lot of idiot motorists doing crazy overtakes of cyclists. People seem to close up behind the cyclist and skim past them, or they cross the white lines and overtake regardless of what is coming the other way. This forces traffic heading in the opposite direction to swerve.
I think we need a lot more education on handling vulnerable and slower road users.

While it's a sorry tale and I hope she's ok, I can't help being slightly disturbed by this line
"I thought she was dead. She was hysterical, screaming at the top of her lungs."

Also (and I will probably be flamed for this), why let your child run out of the gate like that? You never know what is heading down the pavement.
Not condoning what has happened at all. However, the kid could have run into the road too.
I took out a cyclist who was riding on the path last year.
I was pulling a used car off of the forecourt; along the front of the forecourt is a footpath, along the front of the footpath is the main road, I looked to my right to check for traffic and pedestrians, looked to my left for traffic and pedestrians, looked right again, it was clear and slowly started to edge out.
I heard a crunch, thought to myself "I haven't hit the sign as I moved it and it's over there so what the hell have I hit" I looked up and saw a pair of legs and a wheel go over the bonnet.
The idiot on the bike had been going a rate of knots from the left, on the path, there is also a hedge that obscures the view to the left so I just didn't see him but he shouldn't have been on the path, particularly coming from the left and going at speed.
Fortunately he was OK and he was more concerned about damage to the car; there wasn't much, just a bit of trim around the fog lamp was broken.

Is that a shared use (blue) sign in the background of that pic?
Actually I didn't read up to the end of the article:A man in his 20s has since contacted police in connection with the incident and is due to be spoken to by officers tomorrow.
PC Joanna Mills of Lancashire Police said: 'There are a number of offences that will be discussed with this man - riding on pavements and dangerous cycling.

You should be able to be fairly sure that vehicles will not be heading down the pavement at speed!
