After injecting £13 Million of his own money, Jamie Oliver says he has no more money to prop up his struggling restaurants.

"Court documents reveal that Jamie’s Italian had debts of £71.5m, including £30.2m of overdrafts and loans. Landlords, HM Revenue and Customs, suppliers and other creditors were owed £41.3m and staff were out of pocket to the tune of £2.2m"

The Sunday Times rich list says he’s worth over £300 million. Yet he can’t pay his suppliers, staff, hmrc etc? Mmmm.

I'd feel bad for him if he wasn't such a sanctimonious prick.I always enjoy watching the video of him trying to put kids off of chicken nuggets which backfires spectacularly.

If he is worth 300 million and has debts of 71 million then surely the right thing to do is pay the debts in full a nd then struggle by on the 221 million change?

Never includes money as they do not have access to the accounts, they can only estimate on identifiable wealth, land, property, racehorses, art or shares in publicly quoted companies such as his own.

Not always identifiable wealth. If it’s a private company they put in a guess as to the value and that’s finger in the air time as to accuracy.

Can the veil of incorporation be lifted?

Directors have responsibilities too.

And that is way too much for a Sunday evening!

That's a shame the chain is failing. I wonder what the underlying problem(s) is/are? We used to have one nearby which seemed to be popular, but that still closed about twelve months ago. Mind you, given its location, the ground rent on the space it occupied would have been eye-watering. The area has now been divided up into three separate (non-foody) businesses.

'Italian' food is not a chain with Jamie's name attached.

Anymore than 'French' food is.

I do of course understand the tax laws surrounding this, however with Jamie being the social justice warrior that he is, how will his moral compass allow others to be knocked for 71 million while he sits there with more than he can spend?

It's no Greggs is it.

But they've a nice garden for the summer.

No, it’s no Greggs that’s for sure.
Greggs pastry isn’t as soggy.
