LOL, what right minded petrolhead is going to be. We all like driving cars, a vote for them or the one everyone thinks is nice will mean sterling tanking and our fuel going up even more.

I will. Our local Labour MP is a top bloke who escaped the expenses stuff. Politics aside, I want someone local who I can trust and who I think would fight my corner if it came to it, not some drafted in numpty who probably doesn't know whee the place is.

There's very little point in abusing simpletons.

And that is the basis for UK politics. You should be choosing the person from your local town or area, who you think will best represent your interests in the House of Parliament. Party Politics shouldn't come into it. Bravo FourCofffee for doing so, and for saying this.

The obvious hole in the argument is that sometimes decent chaps (4C's MP, for instance) align themselves with parties who are ... less great. That is a shame.

Honestly can't recognise the failures of this government over the past 13 years? Honestly acknowledges that the national debt has been more than doubled by Brown? Honestly aware that we'll be paying high rates of tax for years to pay for the mistakes that Brown has made?

Better the devil you know eh?

Personally I think you're completely deluded if you believe that this government should be allowed back into power for another term. They've had more than a decade to change society for the better, but they've done the opposite.

Every government has a list of failures and successes when they are in power - it just depends on what list you look at! Labour have buggered stuff up but also improved things too! National debt is massive but every country has had to spend its way out of the recession - some did worse, some did better. We will be paying for the ecconomic slump whoever gets in power - some rase tax in one place, others raise it in another way - the only truth is we will be paying in one way or another!

I think Libs Dems would weaken the country so much, we would be far worse under their power. And i dissagree with the Conservatives in many ways - i dont like their policies.

Really? Like what? Given the massive amount of money this government has pissed down the drain, do you not think it is likely that some things would improve a bit, however do you think they've produced value for money? I will remind you of this when the extent of the cuts in spending become clearer after the election.

Yes but we got into this position because of Brown in the first place, or didn't you realise that? You're probably taken in by that 'global recession' bks. Before the recession hit, our public spending was out of control. That was squarely down to Brown. If we'd had an election after Bliar left, we might not have been in this situation now.

Again, if you aren't aware of these facts, you're about the only person in the country who is.

This is the exact reason why nobody will comment on these type of threads regardless of what their political views are.

Why would someone want to explain their reasons for what party they are voting for when petty insults are the first thing anyone will say. If there was an intellectual debate then fair enough but as has been proved thats not what happens.

How did Brown - on his own - spend all that money? He is not given a free rein to do what he pleases while the rest sit and twiddle their thumbs. He does not come up with all the ideas on the back of napkins and beer mats. He is a figure head of a government and not a single supreme ruler! Blair caused the damage long before GB got into power - then jumped out of the hot seat leaving GB to mop-up the damage!

Your right - many people dont comment because of abuse - ive commented on several threads and recieved abuse on each one. When all is said and done, Labour seem to have roughly 30% of public support (depending on what poll you read) - so im not the only one who sympathyses with Labour! But im one of the very few because of these types of replies!
