Pretty bad, just shows people still need educating that paying for work up front isn't what you should do. The only reason places like this exist is because people have no common sense or are naive enough to think they are getting a good deal...

You see, no one gives a fk about business fraud these days, which is a shame because - as teh Sky video explains - companies based at this address (presumably run by the same shysters) have racked up tens of thousands of pounds of unpaid CCJs.

It's like the broekn window syndrome; let crooked directors get away with one thing and it easily leads to another.

I feel sorry for the members of the public being scammed but feel equally sorry for the (largely unsung) legions of businesses also shafted. Can you imagine a small firm or sole trader asking those bds for payment?

This seems like an ideal case for hiring a bunch of heavies to go in - not a course that I would usually advocate.

They have been around as long as I can remember and no-one within a 40 mile radius goes near them.

Advertise cheap engine re-cons, stick 2nd hand engines in or tell you that they cant re-con yours so charge a surcharge.

That would be the only message the owners of that place would probably understand.

Surely the point of the article is that you don't get what you pay for - and in my experience paying more for repairs never delivers better workmanship. Personal recommendation and internet based research is about as good as you can get when seeking a garage.

If all other factors appear equal then of course the quoted price is a simple way to choose.

Though presumably not anonymous enough to have a picture of her in the article? Unless it's been mis-captioned.

Sky has quoted the websites, so it's in the public domain.

Which comes back to my point regarding these 'sorts' of companies and directors.

The low-level fraud thing, the whole phoenix company merrygoround is a breeding pool for this sort of scum. For every excusable and genuine company failure (and also resurrection) there are countless dubious or downright fraudulent ones.

The symptopm is sensational stories like the one we have here, but the root cause is something that none of the authorities seems keen to pursue.
